Jim .. you still on the schedule for tomorrow to get PATS Relearn done and whatever else is necessary?
Ebay has plenty of 2013 Mustangs listed. Find a car with your options. Almost all the ads include the VIN.

BCE 720 - which is the instrument cluster - only has 2 AS BUILT data lines that can be updated.
After looking at a bunch of AS BUILT Data ... The first line appears to indicate if car has NAV or not. The second line appears to indicate if car is Auto or Manual.
Good Luck Tomorrow Jim! May the Force be with you!

Comparing the as built data on several 2013 cars compared to equivalent 2012 cars, I have only been able to confirm maybe 1/3 of the codes. Even among a few similar 2013 cars, the codes are just all over the place.
At least I have nailed down most of the new codes for the ACM nav and the PCM code my car will need.
I can't match up the Accessory Protocol Interface, Body Control, Cluster, SJB, ABS or Restraint Control Module. And I really wonder if Restraint Control or ABS should be changed anyway.
What a pain. If only we could look at the decoder for this stuff.

Except for the 2013 AS BUILT cluster the 2013 AS BUILT for all the other modules is very close to the 2012 for my car. I'm guessing the 2012 and 2013 are using all the same parts except for the Cluster itself (obviously). I personally would feel confident loading the 2013 AS BUILT into all my 2012 Modules and of course the matching AS BUILT data for the Cluster would go in the 2013 Cluster. Just wonder how many hours tech would charge for loading all the modules in the car?

Got this e-mail from him:
The amount that I quoted is for electronic system diagnosis. There is also a menu priced PATS operation which is just for reprogramming keys. It is $99.95. I quoted the diag one because I felt there might be a bit of fiddling involved and it is cheaper than hourly labour rate. If this goes really slick and the PATS reset and key programming are all that’s required, I’ll charge the PATS operation instead. Conversely, if I do the PATS reset and program the keys and this doesn’t work out due to some incompatibility, I still have to charge at least the PATS price. Fair?? I did a bit of research and found that the track app function is a programmable preference item in the cluster. We can try toggling that on as well. Again, I’m not sure if this will allow all of the functionality as some of the data comes from other modules.

Too bad you can't work with him on this.
If I was with the Tech .. would have him
1) Flash Cluster with similar 2013 car AS BUILT and do the PATS RELEARN. Start car and make sure my Navigation issue is gone and see if LCD works. Also check if Track Apps is working. At this point 2013 Criuse Control buttons will still not be working.
2) If all goes well in step 1 .. but no Track Apps I would have him flash the Body Control Module. I think it was only 1 change .. and that may be necessary to turn on Track apps as per zeroaviation. TEst again.
3) If everything is working after that .. I would not mess with more flashing unless you are truly set on trying to get the 2013 Cruise buttons working. I am personnaly OK with using 2012 Cruise buttons and using the 2012 Setup buttons for the LCD display.

I'll print this thread off for him to look over.
I sure wish that there was a decoder available. It would make my life a lot simpler with some of this stuff. Unfortunately, Ford keeps it secret. They don’t want us changing stuff. The original configuration is in an XML file that you can just change the values for various items and it generates the hexadecimal data from that.

Inconclusive...
We did PATS, and track apps appeared on start-up. The nav error message went away as well.
The LCD guages still not receiving messages. Also, even though track apps is there, it not get info from the PCM either.
We could not upload the data from another car. It was explained to me that the software the dealers use will not allow you to get data from another vehicle from Ford. He will be looking into this on his own time over the next little while to see if he can 'trick' the software. But he cannot go in and turn stuff on or off with what he has. He wants to upload PCM software from another car that is like mine on the lot, and them download it into mine, but they don't have any on the lot right now.
So as of right now with only PATS, track apps appeared but doesn't work, cruise still doesn't work right, and the nav error went away.
One step forward, at least. He'll get back to me next week when he's had a chance to confer with his contacts.
