'13-14 Cluster into '10-12 car (with TrackApps) retrofit
#224
It will happen. Just will take some patience, and finagiling. Luckily Jim has a dealer and a tech that will work with him. If you didnt have a cool dealership you would need a external microcontroller or VCM.

Having Track Apps working is a bonus ... I want Cruise to work .. and it would be nice to get the correct OBD data on the bus so the extra gauges in the LCD display work.

If you are all waiting on me, I have to find a time I can get it to him.
I will need to wire up the switch before I take the car down, though. They will need it working right to check the cluster.
We are close now!

Appreciate it!! I'm gonna hold off on the PATS relearn until your tech gets everything figured out.

I should have my 2013 wheel tomorrow with the 2013 harness so all my buttons will be wired correctly going to the clockspring.

On a side note, the buttons on the 2013 switch are painted more of a flat black compared to the satin black on the 2012 switches. In otherwords, the paint on the left swtich from the 2013 doesn't match the right switch on 2012.

So all you will need is to change and add pins on the dash side of the clockspring then.

Just a heads up:
The diagram and pin order for connector 2998 that Ford has in its Mustang wiring diagrams for 2012 is WRONG.
I have double, triple and quadruple checked. No doubt. For those who think I'm an idiot and can't read a wiring diagram, I have used Ford's diagrams to retro fit heated seats, passenger power seats and ambient lighting in my 2005, and I used their diagrams to retro fit the OEM nav and amp.
Connector 2998 for 2012 year - the one that actually plugs into the switch is wired the same as the 2013. The only difference is that the wire that plugs into pin 2 in the 2012 year goes into pin 1 in 2013. That wire is for the signal return for the cruise control.
I'm wiring it up now.

Finding the diagram for the connector was wrong in the book threw me for a loop. It is possible that the 2013 diagram is incorrect too. The ground and illumination are in the right sopts, though. And you already tested the direction and ok buttons, so they are located in the right spots. There's only 2 spots left and it has to be for cruise. Voltages must be different. PCM flashing looks to be the only option here. That or just put the switch somewhere else and keep the old cruise switch.

Jim ... let see how you make out with the Tech at your dealer ... but I came up with this simple solution if the tech can't get everything working.
Keep all the 2012 buttons on steering wheel and Setup buttons. I already confirmed the 2012 setup buttons can to UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT ... with only the OK button missing.
TO create an OK button we just need to splice a momentary switch into the wires coming out of pin 5 and pin 4 on the 2012 setup switch. The OK resistance is 2.110K as per your charts. So coming off the wire on the momentary switch we just need to add the appropriate resisters and WALA .. we have all switches working and an OK button too. I would put the OK button underneath the 2012 setup switches. The 2012 cruise buttons would stay on the steering wheel.
I think in this scenario we would still need to put the AS BUILT data from the 2012 into the 2013 cluster so make sure the Cruise LIght works.
