That's exactly what Mike said, but I hadn't thought of making them removable. Thats a great idea and easy to do, I can just make that section of pipe bolt in.

Funny you should mention ThatDudeinBlue, he reviewed my Saabaru last year. He's a nice guy, and he could definitely use a good car review about now. His channel seems to be suffering ever since his move to Atlanta. If I can finish my car up before classes start I might take a trip up there to let him review mine.

I would say the 10k minimum for getting it running is fairly realistic if you already have the tools and the skills to DIY it. I had originally set a budget of 7k but I blew through that fairly quickly. And I was starting with a damage free, full bolt on manual 3.7, so I already had a few of the more expensive supporting mods like the driveshaft and some suspension components. Bear in mind I only paid 15k out the door at a dealership for my car with 40k miles last April, you may want to consider a clean title car. If you could find a high miles 11-12 private party that would probably be ideal and around the same money. With a build like this you really have to go over the financial side of it thoroughly before you get started. The little things nickle and dime you to death and there were several big things (clutch, brakes, tires, etc.) that I either overlooked or underestimated when initially setting a budget. I've been keeping track of as much of the spending as I can and I'll post what I have below, but bear in mind I'm definitely not done yet. This list will only get longer, and I also have dozens of receipts from local auto stores for various mundane components that are not listed. They also add up fast. I also have not kept track of my spending on tools, but that is also very substantial in tackling this project if you don't have them already. It's a pretty involved process too, the amount of time you have to invest takes it's toll. I need to get this thing done before I start classes again in late August, and I am rapidly running out of both money and time. Needless to say, this project has included quite a lot of stress for me lol.

Thanks! True, but when you take out the S550 IRS it's still just under 10k. Granted, I haven't updated that list in a few weeks, I have more parts to add already lol (like my new tires at almost 800 bucks). In total I'm expecting the parts to total around 15k on mine. A lot of things on that list aren't technically necessary for the swap itself either, but things like brakes and tires really do need to be addressed when adding this much power. I think you could manage the engine swap itself for around 10k, but I definitely don't think that should be somebodies whole budget for the project unless the support is already there.
Now if we really wanted to get down to brass tacks I would have to fish all the receipts out of the center console of my truck. I only really recorded my online spending but I'm sure the locally bought nuts, bolts, hoses, etc. would add up too. But what's really killing me this month is tools lol, but I'm definitely making that harder than it needs to be.

Nice list gatorv6, very helpful to anyone interested in the swap. You do get to sell your original engine and any other parts you don't end up using. Not sure how well those are selling but it's got to be worth $1k. Engine with accessories, wiring harness, PCM, air intake, etc.

Nothing significant to report here. Mostly working with the intercooler builder to get the custom intercooler made and waiting for the block to be shipped back from CSS to cryo treatment company (300 below) then to the engine builder. We are cryo treating the crankshaft, oil pump gears, and timing chain also.

Finally spoke to Harrison from stangtv, really cool guy. He's asked me to create a highlight list of the build and he will write the story from there. We spoke for almost 30 min about the car.

Mike at MPT is getting his truck engine rebuilt so he can have it ready for the ecoboost battle in bowling green. I can't wait to see it run, that's one badass truck

Made a cardboard cutout for my custom intercooler to make sure it fits. We are making a solidworks drawing to give to the guy making the intercooler.

I'm just an old school motor head trying to understand new tech.
Its guys like you that keep me interested in Hot Roding. But when you been away from motors for 25+ years because of family first you feel out of place when you try to return.

I know on air-cooled aluminum Corvair heads, they can work on unshrouding the valves, port, polish without removing the hardened valve seats. Of course many people will spring for new seats when going that far.

Cylinder support systems will have the block ready tomorrow! They worked long hours to get my block finished 2 weeks ahead of schedule, I'm looking forward to getting it shipped to the engine builder. Perfect timing, my pistons come in next week.

Here is the block with the open deck, I should have a pic tomorrow of the deck closed. Basically it's the openings around all th cylinder walls that are being filled with a 1/2" aluminum plate that's pressed in the block.

Any sponsors to help with the build yet.
You should post a list of needed parts (no part to small or big) and see if any of these shops or vendors want to be a part of your journey to having the fastest 3.5 and Coolest Mustang at the track.
That would be a marketing win for everyone.
