Drivers side. But I just remembered what I did before. I loosened this bracket and presto! It fit!

This just poured out of the passenger side one. This one wasn't fully rusted through yet like the driver's side.

Not yet. I'm going to try after I get the mufflers done.

I just noticed the new ones have a born on date (8/6/2011) and serial number. The old ones don't.

Interesting. I wonder if they changed the design. Did you drill weep holes?

I'm interested to see what the x pipe does. I've heard it refines the sound and mellows the exhaust a bit. You me and Mike (way2quick...whatever the rest is) will have to get together and compare.

Didn't drill them yet....I don't have a small enough bit. They appear to be identical to the old one's so I'm not sure about the design.

The x should sound good. I just finished the mufflers up and I'm a bit beat to try it at the moment. I'll see how much ambition I have after dinner.

I'm totally down to get together for a comparison once the x is on.

A couple tips to those swapping them out themselves:
Leave the bubble wrap on to avoid scratches while installing.
Removing the whole bracket that the hangers go through makes it easier to get it back on.
WD40 helps with the rear hanger.

Here's some side by sides. It appears that the water is held inside the inner wall so I don't know if a weep hole would allow it to all drain out.

Yes but my cracks developed before winter was even around.

They salt real heavy here but mine went bad as well before they ever saw salt. We only had our first real snow last week.

Just my opinion but they have been salting the roads for many years I'm guessing and that doesn't just wash away when it rains it's in the soil/dirt so every time it rains and u drive in it u redeposit a amount of salt water under ur car. I work in the gulf of Mexico stainless does not last out here even 100ft off the water it still rusts! Just a suggestion when the mufflers are new maybe coat them with a high temp paint on top of drilling a weep hole. Maybe this would extend the life of the mufflers. I have had my roush's on for about five months and no major rust at all but we don't salt the roads here.

I never had to unbolt anything for mine. Just wrestled a little. Followed the directions and loosened the H-pipe for more play.

Does everyone else loosen the H pipe?!

I tried wrestling with it but I was scratching the heck out of my sway bar links. Just loosen the bolts that hold the muffler hangers and it'll go smoother. No need to loosen the h-pipe.

Here's the bracket I'm talking about. 3 bolts drivers side and 2 on passenger, 13mm I believe.

I didn't loosen anything when I installed my Roushs or when we did my dads gt500s, didn't seem to be any issue with clearance.

It is so much easier if you just unbolt and remove the hangers, and use a floor jack to push up on the over axle pipes. I can swap mufflers out in my car in 20 minutes like this.

That was alot of water you dumped out of that muffler. Maybe the spot to drill the weep hole is on the actual bottom of the muffler, not on the back. I still have not drilled mine.

Maybe just lay them on a table, bottoms towards you, and hit it with a buckshot from a 12 gauge shotgun.

I'm not sure if drilling weep holes is going to drain 100%. When I held one up and shook it you can hear the water inside the inner baffles shloshing around. I would think the hole would have to be drilled deep enough to reach the baffles, but then again I'm concerned about compromising the sound. What do you guys think? I'm in no hurry to drill mine as my car will be parked for a while now.

I don't think a 1/16 hole in the lowest spot will hurt anything Hytek
