Final (sorta) update, as of 8:20 pm 9/30... As I mentioned above, sorry I was away from PC awhile. I was busy getting the tune done, gauge installed, oh... that's right, and a LOT of driving. The day started out with me waiting for the dang tuner to arrive. The UPS man probably got all freaked out because as soon as I saw him drive up, I went up to meet him We then talked about the contents of the box and more about the car. What a cool dude.

^ This is what the tuner looked like out of the box... nifty piece. After wiping my drool, I proceeded to load the tune. It was easy and simple to follow and use.

^ Process took about 6 minutes or so. It was a combination of rewriting and downloading the stock tune. Then came the "moment". My wife and kids helped film the short recording below... they were all eager as I was, so see if my car would "blow up". lol. I must admit, I was a little worried that maybe I f'd something up. Luckily, it was smooooooooooooth... See vid below.

I initially heard the faint whine of the Maggie blower... but it settled. I smelled some spilled coolant (my goof up from before), but other than that, smooth... no leaks.... no squeaks... belt was lined up. I'm good to go. I then took her for a short drive to Auto Electronics shop to get my gauge wired up. I didn't really get on her at all... instructions said to go easy for the first few miles. She drove like STOCK! Albeit, the throttle response was more instantaneous. I attribute that to the new tune, if anything. I made it to the shop in one piece... no issues. Whew... now the long wait to get the gauge working. After 30 minutes or so, I hear the undeniable sound (from the shop garage) of a Mustang V8 with Borla exhaust start up. I knew it was mine.... It's GO time... Here's some pics of the gauge at daytime and night, with my lights on. I also made a short vid of the start up sequence. Defi gauges FTW.

Now that all that set up was out of the way, it was time to get on her, for real. All I can say, Marilyn was awesome before, she's UNreal now... This is my first supercharged car. I've never felt a car like this before. The pull is just insane. Now I know what a 530rwhp (600+ crank hp). It's pretty much instantaneous. I remember my twin turbo rx7.... and it did NOT feel like this. Virtually no lag. Just instant slam-you-in-your-back feeling. It's just marvelous. I was pretty much barking my tires through 3rd. I had to be in sport mode the whole time, because the TCS would bog down the engine with the first hint of slip. I gave my buddies (who helped me install) and neighbors a ride. My one neighbor, I never knew swore, did... lol Their reactions were priceless. My mouth and face hurt from smiling so much. I am REALLY happy with this kit. I called Magnuson and gave them props for a kit that's streetable, drivable, with enough power for most folks... an install that's fairly easy, and EXCELLENT customer service. I highly recommend them to any of you. Affordable and easy to install kit. Thanks to everyone for following this thread. Thanks for the advice, and the props. I will leave you with some vids... just some mild pulls... you can see the boost gauge working on one (don't mind the horn honk, I accidentally pushed it)... and my buddy held the iphone on the other. I was able to go almost WOT in the 2nd vid from 2nd gear I think.

Any questions please let me know... wife's prius is in the shop, so I get to drive Marilyn (tempted to change her name to Maggie...lol) all week. How lucky am I??? I hope to wash her Wednesday...ugh...dirty car. Edit: Surprisingly, the Maggie "whine" was not as prominent as my Borla S-Type Catbacks... you can tell from the video.

I, also, would like to thank you for sharing this experience with us. It was very well documented, enabling us to feel the excitement too. Nice job!

I recall giving test drives with friends after adding tremendous amounts of horsepower, and the words that would leap from their mouths (many were just made up on the spot) while they screamed like little girls! Ha!

May you enjoy many miles of pleasure driving "Crazy Mary"!!!

Well done! Your attention to detail is quite evident.

Throttle modulation will become your friend in the next 8 weeks as the temps get colder! Roll into it as compared to stabbing the throttle.

3rd gear rolls are fun.Perfect blend of power and beauty.

Sadly you probably won't ever hear the whine. Were you flat down when you took that video? Also, just as a little jibe about the RX7, probably doesn't feel the same in your Mustang since it still runs, zing!

Can you comment a bit on why you chose the Magnuson unit, the car's daily drivability, and changes in fuel usage?

Hey Storm... yes, I was quite a bit surprised at how quiet it was. At first I thought it was my Borlas that were loud (which they are, lol)... but I guess the Maggie's are really quiet. I could have sworn I read/heard somewhere that Maggie blowers were one of the loudest. Possibly in the past?

Thank you very much sir. For those of you who know me, you know how detailed I am. So I take pride in documenting every step of the way. I may not have as clean a garage, but blame that on my wife's flowerpots! lol.

But yes I enjoyed the whole documentation portion of it.

Hi Fawls... yes, you can see the intercooler reservoir by the Driver side strut tower mount. And it was also in my video of it running.

Phil, thank you so much for the kind words. I definitely need more vids. Ed was holding the iphone last night, but when I jammed the throttle he was filming the headliner. LOL...

Shiaz thanks for your support. I enjoy sharing and hopefully helping a fellow forum member cross over to the dark side as well..

Brandon, I was not... I don't think I've really gone full WOT yet... she starts getting too squirrly (sp?) with Sport Mode on. Btw, I HAVE to drive it on Sport Mode otherwise, the TCS bogs down the power too much at first sign of slip. Annoying.

??? The shroud cover is there... re-install was done and complete.

Hi Barry... I chose Magnuson primarily for a few reasons.

1) Install ease - I was really hoping to do it on my own, and wanted a kit that was truly a bolt on. The Roush's or Whipple's required some grinding, etc... I didn't want to do that. I researched all the installation manuals, and though daunting at first, Magnuson had the "easiest" (and it's TRUE now that I've done it) installation process.

2) Technology - From my research, Magnuson and Roush were one... they developed the TVS technology jointly, and I think Roush branched off. So Roush is more famous, true.... but Magnuson has been doing this stuff for years. So they're proven just as Roush is, but without the notoriety. This reason leads to reason #3 below.

3) Price - Their MSRP is on the low end of the other Roots type kits, for reasons above.

4) Customer Service - I called Roush and Whipple directly... and I just felt like I got better service with Magnuson.

5) Warranty - Maggie has an available 5 year warranty FROM DATE OF INSTALL (not continued from factory), when installed by an ASE tech. Turns out I didn't even need it... lol... as I would have had to pay an additional 2k for the warranty (1500 install, 475 warranty). My research has shown folks with Maggies have no reliability issues whatsoever, esp when running a box maggie tune.

6) Color - I just HAD to have the powdercoated blue to match my coil covers and a nice light blue contrast to dark Kona blue.

I hope that answers your questions...

DAY 2 UPDATE!!!

Well folks... I had to pinch myself this morning to make sure I really still have the Maggie on there. LOL.

I drove to the gym at 530 am this morning, and that 50 degree air is just wonderful. Throttle modulation is the key, as someone mentioned above. The throttle response is just INSANE compared to stock. I've driven turbo cars before and you can sense the lag... this one is instant. You jab that throttle and the thing goes.

I just love the insane (and LINEAR) burst/surge of power. I now have to start in 2nd from stop signs to avoid that sudden jerk of power... also, I always drive in sport mode now. TCS fully on just isn't cutting it... lol... pun intended.

I love this thing... it has me smiling like a big baby. I'm proud of it too I highly recommend this kit to anyone looking to go Forced Induction... See my post above for reasons as to why.

fyi, mpg right now is 13.7. Ask me if I care??????????

Thanks tony... I love that gauge as well. If you guys only knew how many hours I spent researching a dang gauge lol. In the end I went for accuracy and looks vs price. I could've gotten a cheaper autometer gauge.... Then I realized I'm paying that much for supercharger but then I'm skimping on a gauge??????

So anyways... I love it

I am the same way Burton. I do mega research and I always ask questions beforehand.
Yeah, when it comes to buying stuff, I don't skimp because of price.
CONGRATS!
