ANOTHER question from me (yes, I'm soaking up the knowledge!):
What difference will 93 octane do for the 1/4 mile versus 91? I live in an area that mostly has 91; I could get 93 but it'd be a hassle.

 

Probably nothing on the stock tune. Would be only 4 or 5 HP tuned. .025 maybe.

 

This the FIRST 2011 Mustang 5.0 track test that was released to the public, so did you really expect to see amazing times out of that(no offense to Evolution Performance)? Providing that the track prep was terrible, the car had immense wheel hop, this is Evolution Performance's first time racing the car, and the 60 ft time was not the greatest, I don't think it is a joke at all.

I almost will bet that most Mach 1 owners didn't run those 13.2's at first, I think they almost undoubtedly had to learn how to race the car before pulling them off(multitude of track runs, different launch RPM, etc). If you want to take the time to prove me wrong, then feel free to do so.





I agree, but Evolution Performance did say they couldn't catch the Camaro's trap speed, which to my understanding is a large indicator of lower performance.

 

I think by didnt catch he meant that they werent paying attention, not that the camaro was faster

 

I hope so, in that case the Camaro must've treed him.

 

Catch as in didn't pay attention to the trap speed. Think about it. If you run a 14.5 at more than 110 you're making some serious power, i.e. spinning down the track or shutting down well before the finish line. Or treed the poop out of him.

If it were me, I would have driven it for for at least a few days to get used to it and then I would want some drag tires for it and I would make more than ONE freakin' pass to try and dial it in!

 

I think you misunderstood what he said. He said the Camaro ran a 14.5 but he didn't catch the mph. I take that to mean he got the time just not the mph the Camaro ran.

 

I really have to say that I came to this website and thought that it had some good information about the new 2011 mustangs, however I have learned that it also has a bunch of…how do you say…over dramatic cry babies. First a week long hold on them for quality control checks or delayed part and oh my god the new mustangs suck and will never work. Then unfounded questions about there transmitions and other things that have no bases. Now you want to condem the car because its first run down the track is a 13.2? My god man let the driver learn the car a little and get used to it! Last time I checked, my first run in a new car wasn’t my best of the day either.

Calm down people, if he runs the car for a full weekend and still runs the same 13.2 I will eat my works and never come back to this site. But I have hope for Evo and this site.

All this talk about running a new vehicle for the first time reminds me of when I got a 2002 GSX-R1000.

Had the bike less than a week and decided to go to the 1/4. Not the best idea since I had little time on the bike but I was 19 and dumb.

My first run down the 1/4 was hilarious. Having made many passes in cars I knew right at the start I fudged the launch bad. But luckily I made it down the track still in one piece and didn't lay the bike down.

The real laughter started when I got my timeslip. See on my first run I did go a 10.77 @ 128mph but I laughed when I saw I had a 2.7 60ft time. It was almost unbelievable, having come from a low 12 second stang, to run a 10.77 with a 2.7 60ft time was ludicrous.

 

No problem, and that's a funny story above.

 

I would like to see more tries at a stock run. Evolution is a big outfit but they forget the small guy sometimes. That is my opinion of courses. ONe run is BS. They are mod salesmen and that is their game. Then its a .5 gain from this and that and its only so much and the its just only so much BS to me.

I stand by this.

It kind of reminds me when Hennessey got a 13.5 or so with the stock SS. Then did some mods and was running mid 12's. I think chevys may be on to something.
