I favor the M/T Sports over the RS3-S as the sports tend to ride a bit nicer from what I have heard. Outside of that like Patrick said, they are pretty much the same even performance wise. Here are just a few reviews of them from Terry (Tigerhonaker) thread about them on S197 fourm.

They do really good in rain an well as dry conditions.

No noise at all.

They balance nicely so no "SHAKING-Steering-Wheel" ............

They have a wear rating as you might have already read of 300.

So they wear really good and with the 300 wear rating are not real hard rubber.

If your looking for some Super-Sticky tires for Drag-Racing I'm not sure the M/T Street Comps would be the best choice IMO.

I have ran a lot of different tires as well as wheels on mine and the M/T seem to be a nice compromise for the street.

As I posted above I'M just waiting for a call from the M/T Rep. I have been working with since last year to let me know the New 305/35-20's have arrived.

At that point I am switching to the 275/35-20 Front & the 305/35-20's Rear.

BTW,

I do know there are a lot of people running the M/T Street Comp tires.
I have not really read many negative comments other than the guys wanting Maximum Traction.

They are not a Drag-Racing tire as I said above !!!

For 400-450hp I'm sure they would be fine and other than the lack of traction they were a nice riding tire. For high horsepower street applications I think buyers should look elsewhere though.
BTW ^^^ Was making high 600's low 700's if I am remembering correctly so that probably played a factor in him roasting the tires and them turning into hockey pucks basically. Then again Terry is making somewhere around 800HP IIRC with his setup so hmmm.

I did read your post a few times so I might answer what you wish to know.

Let me explain something.
Me being a much older fellow than probably the majority of people on here.
I wanted to run a name from back when I was driving the 60's & 70's Muscle Cars.
Mickey Thompson goes that far back in time so I took the time to check out their current product lines for Tires & Wheels.
I luv the M/T SC-5 wheels and decided what the heck might as well give their MT Street Comp tires a try also.
So I did both and they have and still are working just fine.
The wheels on my Highland Green (Dark Green to most people) Bullitt Mustang really look good.
I knew when I went with their wheels for the rear-end being 10.5" wide the 275/35-20" tires were to small for that wide of a wheel.
But I also knew there just was No-Way MT was not going to come out eventually with a wider rear tire in the 20".
So now I have the 305/35-20" for the rear-end and also the 275/35-20 for the front.

With all the above being said on my decision for wheels & tires.
Let me tell you what I think on tires for a Mustang that is not going to be Raced on a Drag-Strip [Frequently].
Or for that matter raced at Road Atlanta in that series.

The MT Street Comp tires look great.
They handle really well on the street.
You don't drive when it's raining but if you did happen to get caught in it the tires work very well.
Something else that I just thought of they balance out extremely well.
No SHAKING of the steering wheel at all !!!
They are quiet on a normal surface and I like that.
They are not some Super Expensive tire that can run a person $2,000.00 dollars for a set of four.
And in many-many cases those super High-Dollar tires have a Soft Tread Compound so the mileage for tread wear really "Sucks".
These have a tread wear rating of 300 so they do last awhile under normal driving conditions.
I also like the way the tread looks on them when they are dressed with the BLACK Satin tire dressing.

If I was not going to run the MT Street Comp tires I would go with the Continental DW (Dry/Wet) tires.
I also ran those for a great many years.
They have the same characteristics of the MT Street Comp tires.
(My opinion is the Continental DW are Stickier for Racing)

So Rich maybe I have answered and possibly been a little help in your next selection of tires. :hi:

BTW,
You can PM me any time if you wish to discuss things Off-Line.

Wow, thanks! Glad to know he likes them. I've got plenty of time to make up my mind. Can anyone tell me how the MTs and Coopers compare price wise? Places like Discount Tire make you call for a quote.

Amerocan Muscle has them for $818 and that is 255's in the front and 305's in the rear although you can probably find them cheaper elsewhere or shoot for a discount code. They seem to be around 202-207 a tire. The Coopers are probably a few bucks cheaper than the Mickey Thompson but I think the MT's are a redesigned RS3 since Mickey Thompson bought Cooper or the other way around (I forget, it's too late for me to try and remember) considering how similar they look. The compound is probably a bit better and has newer features on them than what was available when the RS3's were designed.

It would make sense that the MT ride a little better if they're a softer compound. I wouldn't do a 255/305 combo though. That will introduce a lot of understeer to the car. If you want 305s, do 275/305s or do 255/275s.

I think Cooper bought Mickey Thompson.

I've gotta find somewhere to mount and balance, etc. as well. I'll have to look around for some quotes.

The front wheels are 8.5 so I'm kinda stuck with 255s. I'd be fine with 275s in the back. Just think the 305s would be extra sweet. lol

I wholeheartedly agree, but as Nathan said with the 8.5" wheels it makes it hard to go a bit bigger than that. You may be able to fit 275's on there but the bulge would be huge which would also cause a decrease in performance.

You can get an adjustable ARB and put it on its softest setting which will help counteract the understeer.

I do have the sway bars from steeda. I think I'll just stick with 255s though. I don't want to get in over my head.

If you want, Kooks sells the bolts for the pipes instead of having to reuse the factory bolts if you want to. BTW don't cut the rubber bushing! If you hit the bushing and stud hard enough with a hammer it will go in. I ended up cutting the bushing a little bit in order to get it into one of the pipes and eventually the mounting bracket cut its way through the rubber and the stud would vibrate when I was at a red light and drive me ****ing nuts!

They're over $50. I think I'll just struggle with the stock bolts.

I can't imagine you ever having to struggle with bolts when working on exhaust.

Oh wait.....

You'll love em' Nathan.

I originally bought a cheaper brand and had to replace them due to worn out bushings.

After having a the billet Steeda arms on for a little over a week now, they transmit less noise through to the cabin and better planted over the cheaper arms.

Super easy to install too. You won't need to remove the wheels, but it will allow you better access to the emergency brake cable and help you see what your doing.
