In my opinion, the new Doran makes the old Multimatic Focus DP look . . . . . pretty. Even though they look rather similar.

Yes, the original DP's were certainly ugly ducklings. I know they say "you can't make chicken salad out of chicken poop," but credit goes to constructors Riley and Crawford, respectively. They've done a fair bit towards giving DP's some semblance of being "pure" race cars, considering the medium they have to work with.

Underneath the skin, these things are like nothing so much as a NASCAR Cup chassis, with the engine cradle at the other end.

I thought the Riley was ugly until I saw the new Doran. The Crawford doesn't look half bad.

Slightly off-topic, but Ford related: Matech Racing further proves the potential of the GT-R, shows the Ford can kick **** and take names on the race tracks of Europe: http://www.fiagt3.com/newsitem.php?key=192

This bloke Bouchut has what has got to be the best effing job in the world. "Christophe Bouchut, the FIA’s reference driver for this category was charged with taking each car out on to the track, to establish what has now become the beginning of season traditional balance of performance evaluation."

^^^ Great picture! ^.^ If you saw the Matech GT prototype testing, it smoked the Lambo during the test run... and is that a Morgan in the 2nd row directly behind the GT!?

Yup, that is indeed a Morgan, Aero 9 GT3. I guess it's an evolution of the Aero 8 that ran Sebring a few years back? Don't think Maserati is still in the series any more--still, they [FIA GT3] seem to have the best diversity of makes in GT racing...

The Aston DBRS9, with its ultra wide body panels, seems like a bit of a "ringer," more of a silhouette racer than the other cars in the series; but still some great looking cars. Funny, I prefer the roadgoing Astons over the Jaguars--but when it comes to the racers, the Jag XKR gets the thumbs up. Gorgeous!

love the morgans, wouldnt mind owning a street going version. FIA GT3 definitely has the widest range of cars out there.
