I still think there should be a SVT cobra and a Shelby gt500 option. Like they did with saleen.

Cool

Off the forum for only two days and the thread has grown four more pages.
To me , the Shelby GT500 is engineered by Ford SVT to be a Shelby GT500 that is good enough to be approved by Shelby himself. I dont think SVT has enough clout within Ford to continuously be allowed to increase the horsepower of the GT500. Since Shelby has his name on the GT500, he can have the final say as to what direction the performance of the GT500 will go. We all need Shelby as our representative at Ford.

Competition and evolution are pointing the way for the GT500, not Shelby...That's all there is to it.

Seconded, even though I've only been in the Mustang legacy for a year now. The SVT program went online for a reason and when John Coletti left the franchise a lot of that greatness that SVT stood for left with him. SVT badges their name on the underside of the bonnet in the GT500's nowadays but seriously, who noticed besides you or I? Dodge's SRT is as synonymous as SVT was to Ford years ago. Personally I think the Shelby name is becoming a Relic and I'd go for dropping the GT500 in place of bringing back the Mach 1 as originally done in the late 60's. Bring the Cobra back online and push the envelope further than where the 04 Terminators left off.

The GT500 has 4 times as many SVT logos on it as it does the name Shelby.

Well depending what the 14 or 15 stang redesign will look like, the Shelby styling might not fit the new body right. Hope is still high.

Having read what I have thus far on the next generation Mustang, it's sounding very much like a european look with Mustang "cues." To me, that means Aston Martin with Mustang head- and taillights. I'm expecting quite a change, and the '14 will almost certainly be the last fully American Mustang Ford builds. Kinda sad.

It was an opinion. Not sure what's hard to understand about that. Then again, it is you, so perhaps you're still trying to figure out the difference between yours and your ***hole.

Cut it out now. Consider this the warning and the next thing you see will be a ban.

One can still hope that Ford will bring the SVT name back to the forefront of Ford as it once was. I know Dodge is bankrupt and all but SVT would sound a whole lot better considering the department has been online since 92 whereas "SRT" hasn't been. I just rolled up next to an SRT 8 today that sounded like child's play compared to a stock Terminator. Funny thing is that the SRT 8 was probably brand new whereas the SVT was badged in 04 under the Terminator monicker. Bring back the SVT I say, but then again it might only happen if they could buy John Coletti back?

Supposedly the redesign will look a little Aston Martinish. From what I have heard. But will still have the traditional 3 bar taillights. Still I am not 100% sure about this but it seems fairly reliable. Sorry i dont have any pics or anything not sure if the pic has been posted on HPS already.

Change is inevitable, you can work against it of roll with the punches. Ford is trying to appeal to a new market model after model in the Mustang line-up. To progress forward is only a good business decision, if you stick with the same basic layout of a vehicle with only minor tweaks to it, people will grow bored with your product because it's yesterday's news. Just think of the resurgence for GM if they were to put out a Camaro that was a throwback to the late 60's model years. People would jump on that like they did the S197's when they rolled out in the 05 model year and the Challenger's when they were brought back to. Ford plays it safe and knows how to take calculated moves, and a new body style just means they are attempting to mod forward. Could you imagine what a fox body would look and handle like if it were brought back today..?
