Been reading all of the most recent 'independent" tests of the new '13 Shelby GT500. Ford claims a 202 mph top speed at the Nardoring in Italy. MotorTrend almost got there at 196 mph in AZ, while Car and Driver only got to 189 mph in MI.
Challenge to Ford: spring for a day at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, bring a half dozen of the new GT500s, right off the production line, and give us 200 mph. We need to see y'all break the 200 mph barrier.

Lol the gt500 won't get anywhere near 200mph at Indy. It can't sustain enough speed in the corners to make a run down the straights.
They need a nice day at Nardo or a loooong stretch of straight road at low elevation.

Sacrilege I know but it's just a car.
What stands out most to me is the slow 0-60 time. Yes in know it's street tires but I would expect better. Sounds like the compromise 285 rears and torque management are rearing their ugly head. All the track test pointed out is the Shelby needs brake cooling and the Camaro needs bigger front rubber.

You really think the 0-60 time is slow? I think it's quite good. I suppose that with 660hp you might expect it to be quicker, but I think it's decent. There also seems to be no complaints about it being able to "hook up" which seems to have been a major complaint of all previous models.
