Or a 5.4 mod with a slightly bigger bore, that'd improve both airflow and keep piston speed from creeping up.
And nice to see a Mustang at the ring, if for no other reason than publicity. Also great for improving the heat soak issue that is the GT500's achille's heel.

I would suspect that we are more than likely seeing Ford doing platform testing in a current mule. We see other manufacturers do this all the time, as they have to prove/test new engines, suspensions, and brakes somewhere.
What might surprise everyone is that they could be testing a 3.7L High Output Twin Turbo engine.
I don't think the market will forgive them for another round of solid axle only Mustangs with large displacement SuperCharged applications. Ford has already committed to installing EcoBoost options in 80% of their cars by 2013, and higher by 2014.
One thing's for sure, changes are coming!

Firstly, I suspect the most recent spyshots are of the '13 model, NOT the '15 all new car.
If they really were testing the all new underpinnings, I would imagine they'd struggle to fit it under the current body without a fair amount of cutting and shutting.
It's widely expected the all new car will sport and independent rear end but there's no reason to believe a live axle Stang wouldn't survive in Europe. Those of us that already own them will confirm a SRA is NOT a handicap in real handling terms, but it could be a handicap in terms of potential sales to owners of existing European cars. Too many Jeremy Clarkson deciples spouting rubbish about how poor the Mustang's suspension design is has sullied its reputation over here. Even true petrolheads, who really should know better, have been suckered into that way of thinking.
The bigger stumbling block for sales in the UK, I believe, will be LHD. I know the recent Auto Express article (posted in the 2014 section, where these comments should be posted) have said the new car will have RHD but, just like the Camaro, I can't see the numbers stacking up enough for RHD Mustangs to be produced. That's fine for us current owners that know LHD isn't an issue, but even I was wary before I bought my car.
Now - back to the '13MY.......I wanna see more spyshots of the '13GT with it's GT500 inspired nose

Motor trend spy cams nabbed a few pics. Theres one with a red Shelby with small fins on the front bumper for more downforce and you can notice the larger cooling pipes. They are possibly testing a new motor or at least a new intercooler or new cooling options to help combat the heatsoak problem

Anyone notice the brakes? The rears are obviously larger, and if you enlarge the pic the front rotors kind of look like they may be carbon ceramic.

Both the front and rear brakes are bigger. In the pic of the red car, you can more clearly see the cross drilled rotor.

I figured with the introduction of the Boss LS a better performing SVT would not be far behind. It will be interesting to find out what its MSRP will be and if x-plan survives should its performance and suspension upgrades are substantial.

i wonder if we are looking at the current SVTPP brakes and suspension becoming the standard and a new more hard core SVTPP being added to the lineup with cross drilled fronts and larger rears.
much like they took the best elements of the 2010 track pack and incorporated it in to the std GT suspension for 2011 and added the brembo pack as an upgrade to that.
