The ZL1 is getting an automatic transmission and PTM (Launch Control). It'll be interesting to see if Ford is going to respond to this recent update.

Until GM gets serious about putting the Camaro on a diet, and giving the car livable ergonomics and driver visibility, Ford won't need to bother responding to everything GM does.

When the new Camaro design was released I really liked it, but then reality sat in, and like just about every Camaro before it, they suck to own.

If its anywhere close to the CTS-V that it shares parts with, its going to be a badass.

Case in point, look at Apple...

Well 2 sides to this coin:

1 ) Have the auto, its already being used in the CTS-V..

2 ) GT500 doesn't have an auto with the engine in anything, so it'd be a whole new set of testing and certification.

Oh, and sidenote if no one has ever seen this:
(I literally pissed myself)

If I was going the GM route wanted an auto I would save a little more coin and get the caddy with the auto box... If I was going GM....

Like Boomer said, why not take advantage of the market when you've got the parts to do it (referring to the auto)? Ford isn't going to make an auto to compete with them, and I don't blame them. There isn't enough demand to justify the validation and tooling expenses required to make that happen.

I'll be shocked if the ZL1 comes in at 556hp come Jan 2012. It'll go down as one of the biggest let downs in recent history. They've kept the horsepower numbers very close to the chest, almost as bad as C7 details. If it doesn't come in with 590hp or more, then they've wasted their time.

Adding PTM to the ZL1 was another shocker. I wouldn't be surprised if Ford hasn't got something up its sleeve to compete with it. They've shown what they can do with TracKey, now they can take that and push it to the next level with further vehicle tuning and calibration.

Actually they haven't, they've told us what they can do with it, the real world results remain to be seen. Much like politicians.

I challenge anyone who hasn't driven a BBP equipped GT to drive one compared to a Camaro 2SS on similar roads and see which one "feels" better.

whos to say ford will build a mediocre IRS. Times are a changin and the stang needs an IRS.

And what about the broken half shafts I heard about this weekend from France to Montreal, hmmm? How many spin outs & wrecks did I see after hitting bumps, curbs, driving off the edge of pavement with IRS? I lost count. It's not the "needed edge" so many (falsley) claim.
k i agree. I dont know how to drive an SRA. I cant tell a difference when the SRA hops and wiggles at freeway speeds.

Don't want it, don't need it. Several hundred thousand miles of SRA on ALL conditions, and I Know what its going to do and how to react.

PS: speak/write the language much?

Still no comment about the undependable/ineffective IRS that took several drivers out in multiple world class races this weekend, eh? Avoiding the issue?

I never said they would. I simply said they won't build something to appease the whiners if it doesn't outperform the current offerings. If Ford wants to sell the Mustang globally, then the IRS makes sense, if done right. Also, if they ever plan to build a Lincoln variant on the Mustang platform, then it would need to be IRS to appease the "snobs" that consider a luxury coupe/sedan.

Clearly this is a true statement. If you are "feeling" the SRA at freeway speeds, on a freeway, then you are amazing. Its one thing to feel it in a tight turn with bumps. In a straight line on a freeway is something completely diffrent. If you have the Brembo package, its not the SRA you feel.
