It looks sensational - what the GT500 ought to have looked like.

Some say they don't like the retro-inspired hood. I say it looks exactly right!

But I question the wisdom of bringing out yet another rare, high-dollar Mustang strictly for the collector set, when average Mustang enthusiasts are being offered nothing affordable between the GT and all these Shelby variants.

Ford should be careful with this >> they could end up riding the Shelby wave right onto the shore...and beaching the Mustang's success in the process, IMHO.

[quote=V10;878665]Sorry, but with premium gas headed for $4 / gal this summer and dealer ADMs, I'm a bit underwhelmed by the GT-500KR.

Your gas statement is actually funny. I would bet you a tank of that $4.00 per gallon gas that a person that wants and can afford this car will not be worried about $4.00 per gallon gas. Just my opinion.

Color me unimpressed. This car definetly looks good, but the added price with marginal increases in performance are going to make this a big dissappoinment. This car will probably be in the mid 50's I would think, so you are getting closer to Z06 territory. The Z06 would blow every KR badge off this car.

I like it for what it is, but I'm not to impressed with that hood. At least the Shelby lettering is now as it should be (hopefully GT500 will have it too). Hopefully the suspenion tuning is improved more than the HP, cuase it's getting into NHRA territory.

Hm, you know, I don't think any GT500KR owners are going to care.

Can't compare this to Corvette. They're different cars. The Corvette is like 4" off the ground with tires wide enough to eat on. This car isn't the same class vehicle, not to mention you can actually carry 4 people and some stuff with the King. Now, when the price starts climbing, that's when it gets interesting.

Oh, BTW..I've been drooling like a fool since I saw this thing.

Just took another look. That hood may cause me to start trying to plan a Shelby conversion on the front of my car... IF the scoops can be or are functional.

That's because most people driving this will be baby boomers who are buying into a name and not performance. Ford really has no clue as of late.

It's also got 20" wheels. The production version will have 18's, and probably have the same Shelby lettering as the GT500. The concept of the GT500 had spaced out lettering, too. That, the wheels, and the hood are all things they changed that they shouldn't have.

ok...my plan for the next year is to butter up my wife...maybe let her do the kitchen remodel she wants...and spring this on her!

I hope they keep it true to the original, those concepts do look good and that hood is a winner!, If they get to carried away with the pricing on the KR I think the new Bullitt might end up in the garage instead.

oh..its gonna be a long year

Without moving the drivetrain this would be the only way..but i have my doubts they'd do that. BTW while you are counting stuff..count how many Shelbys made it onto the car vs how many SVT's

If i had to guess it's because the only SE's we've been seeing may as well be SE lamborghinis considering how much they are costing even before ADMs...but that is just a guess

BTW Sean they blocked your hotlinking efforts

Crappy photoshop

Anyone else notice the poor quality of the photoshop.? Look at the rear window. It has blue stripes too. C'mon!

I'm no photoshop guru but I could have fixed that.

Sorry, it's probably just me being nickpicky since I've photoshopped a ton of silver stangs with blue stripes (see avatar).
