The 65 was a free spinning star washer and the 66 was a thicker round bolstered bolt.
Just guesses!

That is an acceptable answer. Also the 65 had SEMS on the head and the later could have had an anchor on the head. Your go garagewear. kennyg

Put in mustangs in 1983, but they were first introduced in 1981.

The first T-5 five speeds were introduced to market in 1981, in all things, a AMC Spirit/Concord. In 1983, T-5's were introduced to Fox body Mustangs and are still used in the 3.8L V-6 Mustangs
While the '83 5.0 Mustang is where performance enthusiasts were first introduced to the T5, its lineage can be traced all the way back to the '81 AMC Spirit.

Only other thing would the the T5 Mustang which was a 1965 mustang offered in Germany.

Come on Bill, are you talking car or tranny? 1983 was the first year for the T-5 tranny.
http://www.mustanggt.org/83gt.htm

64 1/2 through 66 T5s are tagged with an X (for export) only on the body tag, 68 T5s have a tag with "X W. GERMNY T5", on 70s to 74s a "T5" or also a "X T5 W Germny" was found on their ID tags or buck tag. In one case a 70 has been confirmed with only a 95 on the buck tag to be a T5 through its history.

BA - You are correct. Skip - That was the point of wording the question as such. You didn't really think I would ask two transmission questions in a row did you?

The "T-5" was the codename that Ford used for the Mustang. When they exported to Germany there was already a Mustang being marketed. I think it was a bicycle or motorcycle.

Danny Renner had one when we were in Dudleys body shop class in high school (1983) . It was a Nightmist Blue 289 coupe. We painted Candy Apple Red it that year and changed all of the badging to Mustang. If we had only known then what it was. I have a picture of it somewhere. I will have to find it and scan it.

Go ahead BA!

There was also a '66 Prairie Bronze 6 cylinder fastback T-5 that sat in a field behind the old Northwest YMCA. Several times I climbed the fence to take a look at it. It was mostly picked clean, but still had the emblems on the side.
