Spotted a Bullitt, Ran it light to light

and a race winning 3.73/1 gears!!!
What’s to understand? Do you really think a stock GT/CS can take a stock Bullitt?
<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o>
</o> It is more than the 15 additional horsepower; it is a snappier (less lag) throttle response, it is a 250 RPM top end increase (where the power is being made) but most of all a race winning 3.73/1 gears!!!
<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o>
</o> A stock GT or GT/CS can not take a stock Bullitt. Period.

Edit: and don't get me wrong... I've seen the same thing from the CS crowd regarding regular GT owners.

I dont care. They are both mustangs, and not much different from one another...I see no point in having this kind of discussion going on is all....sorry lynda, wasnt talking about you...I suppose I just should have not said anything, so to make up for that, I wont revisit the topic. -codeman out

Personally I tend to agree with you!! What I find odd, however, is nobody finds it strange that the GT/CS owner make a U-turn and followed the other driver intersection after intersection... and did not stop even after the other car lit it up to get away. Personally I'm guessing she may have seen "theredliner" as a stalker and was simply trying to get away from him. Maybe "theredliner" should be happy that he didn't find himself followed soon after the incident!

I don't find it strange to be interested in a Special Edition Mustang. As for following, if you are a racer , you know whats up. The Bullitt is a nice car..rare. It was fun. end of post

It sounds like you're assuming that she was a racer... Unless there's more to this story than has been posted I'm guessing she wasn't! Since she hasn't shown up on this site and responded to this thread one can only assume that either she's not into online Mustang forume, not into this particular forum, or not a car nut. To be honest the more I think about it the more I'm suspecting that she neither had interest in your bling mobile or in stopping to shoot the breeze with you. If I were you I'd be happy the she didn't call the cops following that episode... and just move on.

Wow, not a lot of love from the Bullitt guys. Is there really that much of a performance gain from 15hp? I mean, I've seen a regular ol' crappy GT gain 27rwhp from a cold air and a tune, so what's the huge advantage with a Bullitt? Maybe I'm just too obtuse. Please edumacate me.
Wait, hold on a second.... flame suit, on.
By the way, I love the Bullitt, and the GT/CS, just don't understand the "high and mighty" attitude of some of the Bullitt owners to other fellow Mustang owners.

I don't think we're being too high and mighty. We like the car and we also feel that the modest performance upgrades make this car a step above the GT. Every review of the Bullitt says this is the best handling Mustang that Ford has ever made.
It's not being high and mighty to be able to observe that the CAI, the race tuned suspension, and the 3.73 gears are going to give the Bullitt a level of performance that a GT, or GTCS just cannot match.
The topic creator IMO doesn't like that fact, and thus needed to try and force a lady Bullitt owner into a race to try and prove his car is as good or better.
I suspect when summer get here I'll encounter my share of red light heroes as well. I think my response is going to be to rev the engine and let them hear that deep throated growl and let them think the race is on. Then when the light changes I'll just pull away normally while they go screeching down the road.

I think at a difference of 15 hp it's marginal. Even if you throw in gears. Now if both cars are autos (which the Bullit is not correct?) then maybe it would be a definite... but driver error and a number of other things come into play when you're talking such a marginal difference in power and performance.
Either way I do think the poor woman was probably just scared, or annoyed. If you want to race take it to the track. Otherwise you're just blowing smoke.
If a GT/CS or Bullit pulled up next to me and honked and what not I would look over and laugh at them.
1. Because I don't street race.
and
2. Because I'm laying down 446 RWHP from my Saleen blower... in my "Crappy GT"
Never judge a book by it's cover.

Never judge a book by its cover?
That is funny, judging a book by its cover is after all what this whole thread was all about wasn’t it? You really think the lower gears don't make any difference? Wow.
MAJOR UPGRADE! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvOE9YexNqU
The 2008 Bullitt is the best balanced Mustang ever built. Doug Gaffka
Comparable drivers, a stock GT or GT/CS cannot take a stock Bullitt. Period.

The thread, I believe, was an account of someone seeing a Bullit and then attempting to race that Bullit.
What you wrote was "stock GT or GT/CS can not take a stock Bullitt. Period."
Now you've rephrased it to say "comparable drivers" which is more accurate and something I would agree with. But again unless you're on a track it's all BS anyway. Who knows if she was even racing.
And I added my comment about the "book by its cover" because basically you have no idea if the car you're pulling next to you is, in fact, stock... but again it's all here say and BS to me unless it's on a track.

The 2001 Bullitt was labeled as the best handling and GT ever, replaced by the most exciting Mustang ever, the '03 - '04 Mach 1s, which were soon after detroned by the '03 / '04 Cobras, which were replaced by the best Mustang ever, the 2005 GT, which was replace by the '07 - '08 GT500, which are now replaced by the '08 Bullitt.
It seems Ford introduces the most, the best, and the ever, every single year with every single Mustang model. That's what I call improvement. I am so glad I didn't waste my money on a 2K Cobra R.
