Called driver at 1230 PM thinking he was hours away. Nope he's just 30 mins out. Run back into restaurant where my wife and kids are waiting to be seated, and tell them "we gotta go now!" I do at least take them to a fast food restaurant on the way on home (not totally self absorbed).
I take my exist off the interstate and see a car carrier sitting off to the side of the road. Could it be? It is my driver. Wife recognizes name on the side of the truck. I call him on the cell phone. He's trying to figure out how to get to my house. I tell him to follow me. He pulls right up in front of my house and proceeds to unload an Audi that's parked in front of my car. Aston Martin is sitting above my car.
I catch my first glimpse of my car. At this point my wife and kids are in the front yard. We have video and digital cameras rolling/clicking. My neighbors probably think I'm nuts. Driver pulls my car out (video taped this) Nice exhaust). He gives me the keys and I take my first drive in my Shelby GT...20' into my drive way.
We inspect the car, I sign the paperwork, and call my insurance company. Can't find the screws for the license plate, so I take the front plate off my truck. Get my drill and put 2 holes in the rear bumper (already identified drill dimples), and put the plate on.
About the same time I posted on here "IT'S HERE!", I called a guy I met on the shelby forums that lives nearby and also ordered an 08 SGT (Dig-it-Kevin). He's not home so I leave a message. He calls me back as I'm signing the paperwork, and starts heading my way. He arrives just after I get the plates on. He finds the license plate screws in the passenger side floor. Also, the antenna, floor mates, front license plate bracket, and wheel locks are in the trunk.
Car hasn't been dealer prepped so we start removing the plastic off the seats, sun visor, and dash; and we take the car out and go for a spin. Car isn't as dirty as I thought it would be.
We get on the interstate and get up to about 80 mph. Love the exhaust note. Lots of people are checking us out. In fact a black mustang GT, gets out of the exit lane to speed up to us to catch a glimpse.
I pull off the interstate into a parking lot and give the keys to Kevin. He gently drove it back to the house.
We get back and talk about our cars (he has a very nice 01 GT he drove over). As we stare at the car we talk about wheels, options, superchargers, lower grill, etc.
He asks me, what are you going to do now. I have no clue. I haven't thought about what I would do after I get the car.
Wife takes a picture of us in front of the car, Kevin leaves, I pull the car into the garage, take some more pix, and come up here and type all this out.
