Tried a few things this morning, and finally found the solution. Ask me if i'll ever enter another PATS key in wrong ignition switch. I took the Escape key and put at the other end of my backyard so that it wouldn't interfere with 'Stang anymore. Start up the 'Stang let it idle a few seconds and put ignition switch key off. Now that worked until i brought back the Escape key too close to the 'Stang. So i unplugged neg of battery and waited about 10 minutes and plugged it right back. Problem solved even with Escape key close to the 'Stang. Somehow, the computer recognized the other MAPS key and was giving me this " run over" problem which in itself is a bit weird. Just imagine for a second having to turn off the light switch to kill engine. That felt so weird.
But now it is fixed and hope somebody else learns from my mistake. Thx for the input guys.

Dan, I would make sure Ford knows about this issue just the same. Not being able to turn off the ignition is a BIG safety issue.

On them I have a PATS key and a door key for each other vehicle (and a house key).
All my other keys are on a second key chain.
Again, this is more a show of my **** tendencies than anything useful.

I have 3 late model Ford keys, all the same style and never have an issue putting the wrond key in a car.
Just push the unlock button on the key fab and the one that opens the car is the one that works.
Simple, no paint or cumbersome key rings to add.

Don't work on my Ranger.
Ya know, there are a few vehicles you can still buy without fobs even in 2011.
It also sounds like your system also has a key ring for each vehicle to keep the fobs straight.
How is that different from my system?

+2

Always lock with key. Always unlock with key. Now you know you have the right key.

PS If you leave the car parked will it shut itself off after the key gets so many feet from it?

My daily driver is a Lincoln MKS which only has a foeb and uses a Start button to turn the engine on and off. I won't be able to mistakenly try and start the Mustang with it, so I am save there

I have had the fob on me while driving the Stang and have not had any interference from it.
Kind of spooky this could happen

Let me put things into perpective as to why this has happened to me. 'Stang stays in the garage, Escape sits outside and is in the way of the 'Stang. So, have to move Escape onto the street cuz it was blocking up the 'Stang from leaving garage. Put Escape key into RIGHT pocket and go to a friday night cruise and park the car with windows down and hood opened up for people to see, so no need for locking doors. Put 'Stang key into LEFT pocket. Get into UNLOCK 'Stang few hours later and reach for RIGHT pocket and put it into ignition. Won't start, dammit, must be the steering wheel lock thing. Try again, nothing. Then things clear up, darn i have the wrong key and proceed with right key and start up the car normally. So my point is i'm not going to start painting my MAPS keys, but i'll pay attention next time ( and they're is going to be a next time) as to which key goes into which ignition. This could happen to anybody. i've learned my lesson.
I and didn't even talk about the other Ford i have with a similar key...but that my friends is another story.
