Thanks, That was My Point, Mufflers placed where they are has nothing to do with the Country of Origin or What Decade they were Built In.

He'll Always Come Up With Some BS to try to Defend His Rhetoric.

I Don't Know Why I Bother Feeding The Troll?

I Just Cannot Stand Closed Minded People, that Always Use Some Kind of Prejudice To Validate Their Point Of View, i.e. Mufflers Out Back Like a Japanese Car.

Moosetang: Thanks for the update, Moosetang! Once Ford decided that the 6.2L was to be offered only in the F-150 at first--and then perhaps in the F-150-based SUVs later--it made the 777 a large, slow target at close range in the periscope of the budget-cutters. If it is truly a SOHC two-valver, it had issues anyway--why develop it if you plan to shortly replace the heads with multivalve units anyhoooo? Mustangs do not need to return to two-valve heads...

Didn't misread anything. Just stated that I don't care about Thunderbirds. In other words, I couldn't care less where they put the mufflers on T-birds. However, on a Mustang they should be mid-mounted, not in the back. That's my biggest disappointment with all S197 Mustangs...

BTW, the majority of Japanese cars do in fact have the muffler(s) at the rear of the car.

The majority of all cars have the mufflers at the rear. Japanese, European, North American, Australian.

Hell, the Camaro has been using rear mufflers since the '80s.

Yeah SugeKnight, they are placed for Efficient Packaging, and Aerodynamics now. We all know how Efficient those Germans and Japanese are when it comes to packaging.

Not Mustangs. And that's my whole point. All of the older musclecars used mid-mounted mufflers. And that's a big part of how they got that awesome musclecar sound. It's nearly impossible to reproduce that sound with a rear mounted muffler. Up until the S197 with its rear mounted mufflers, it was easy to make a V8 Mustang sound just like an old 5.0L Fox body car. I'm sure you and everyone else is very familiar with a 5.0L car with Flows and and offroad H-pipe. It's almost a classic sound in itself and almost entirely impossible to reproduce on an S197 because of the muffler location.

Not to mention that it looks wack too! Luckily, Boomtubes and Loudmouths were invented for those of us who prefer not to see mufflers when looking at the back of our Mustangs!!!

You know, the diaper doesn't even hide mufflers. Just look at that picture of the Ford Racing Mustang in the snow that was posted the other day. You can see the mufflers just as easily as you can on the '05 body style.

Gotta thank Mac for the Boomtubes! Or if those are too loud, at least Flowmaster has black mufflers that blend in and don't look too bad.

The big three won't go under anytime soon. Our government will pump them up with our tax dollars to keep them afloat. All I know is after the automakers get their bailout from our tax dollars I'll never pay any more than 1/2 invoice on a new American car. The way I see it is I have partial ovenership on all American made cars. Let the ignorant Attack!!!!!

If this is true, would there be any incentive to paying a markup for the boss, instead of just waiting for the 2011?

The only incentive would be the fact that it would be a Special Edition, limited production model. Other than the fact you could say you had one of the First 5.0's and the first new Boss 302 in 30 Years. Huh...just thought about that, the 2010 is Exactly 30 years since Ford built the last Boss 302. What better time to bring it back?

SVO would be a killer. with a tune people will be at 400+ whp. that's going to draw a lot of attention from the younger people that like to fiddle w/ boost.

I'd hazard a guess the muffler packaging on new cars has less to do with being efficent and aerodynamic and more to do with gas tank regs, sadly for the Mustang it killed what was pretty much a signature sound, on the plus side - no Pinto problems.

Packaging and ease of changing out

As for the 5L I have no doubt it'll eventually be the ONLY engine.
I don't see the 4.6 around for very much longer.

Quick Reply: will 2011 have the 5.0 for sure?? how sure?
