The spy pics were of the current model not the 2010. They were testing the new power plant in the current model so it had a bulge in the hood and weird looking tailpipes.

The buldge is to clear the Strut tower Brace and possibly the new engine.
Either way, if they were testing the current 2010 or 5L powerplants, you probably wounldn't be able to tell unless you saw under the hood.
Different tailpipes and a bulge in the hood don't mean anything

Greg... ya gotta stop grouping those names together....
Boss/Hurricane and 5L(code: coyote) are completely unrelated
The only thing they have in common, is # of cylinders.
It won't have to escape the corp. axe...
its the future V8...
Its the 4.6 and 5.4 that will eventually have their lights shine dimmer.
They'll be missed, but the more efficient more powerful and more fuel economic 5L variants will shine.

Motor Trend says they were told by Ford that the new truck engine will be just "the 6.2" (no Triton, no Hurricane, no Boss, no EcoBoost, no Coyote...) and will be a two-valver. I ain't seein' a lot of progress here...

Enough *****ing about the 2010's Full Diaper! After seeing these Spy Pic's, now we know what that Diaper is Full Of, or will be Full Of when the 5.0 Debuts, Mufflers!

And it Didn't have any "Bulge" on the Hood

From the Article on Left Lane:
Ford begins testing 5.0L V8 for use in the 2010 Mustang [Spied]
05/12/2008, 12:58 PM
Spy photographers have spotted a mule for the upcoming 2010 Ford Mustang testing on the roads of Michigan. While the mule looks unassuming thanks to its current-generation Mustang body, the real news is what lies beneath the pony car’s hood — an all-new V8.
The two Mustang mules spotted are actually test beds for the 2010’s all-new 5.0L V8. The details giving the new powerplant away are subtle — the only significant visual cue is the car’s exhaust setup — but our sources confirm that the Blue Oval has indeed begun testing the new engine.
The mules also appear to have the 2010 Mustang’s interior, although under heavy camouflage.
While Ford has yet to make an official announcement, it is believed that the 5.0L unit will replace the 4.6L V8 currently used in the Mustang.
The new engine is being developed under the codename ‘Coyote’ and will kick out 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Despite the 100 horsepower boost over the current Mustang GT, the new engine will return better fuel mileage than the 4.6L powerplant.
The new 5-liter powerplant will be built at Ford’s Essex Engine Plant in Windsor, Ontario.

The Accompanying Mules Interior Photo, I didn't Include Before but figured I better in case it was brought into question as well.

MARZ: As several have said, Ford has been known to underrate their engines' power figures lately; it's probably because of the 1999 Cobra fiasco. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if the new 5.0L were "rated" at 360-380 horsepower, but really put down 360-380 hp.
