Who's Buying a '11 Mustang?
I'm probably going to wait until the Job 2 MY2011's hit the showrooms. Let them work things out and see how everyone reacts right away before jumping into one. Besides, we may hear more about possible SE's in the future, which might hold me off til 2012 if that's the case.
I am, however, lining up potential buyers for my car now, should I decide to jump on one quicker.

My '05 is recently paid off and I'm not willing to or able to afford replacing that car payment. As much as I love the potential of the new powertrain and interior, I simply cannot afford to do it at this time. If money wasn't an issue, I probably would replace the '05 for a copy in '11 flavor yes.
At the risk of splitting hairs...what the hell is it then?
Personally, I think it stopped being a "pony car" and started being a simple "sports car" in 94. I realize it's all in how you define these things, but I'm just curious why you think it is so obvious that the Mustang isn't a sports car. On a very basic level, it is a car that puts performance and driving for pleasure ahead of practicality. This is how I would basically define a "sports car".

When I leave the military in June I'll be taking a house payment with me, as I was unable to sell mine and had to lease it out. Didn't want to have the car payment on top of that. The anticipation is going to kill me though! These last few days have been very exciting.

I have, but what does that have to do with anything? I've never had a single problem with my '05, never gotten a recall letter from Ford, and haven't experienced any bad design issues. Are you saying that the '05 Mustang was loaded with problems, but I just never experienced them for some reason?

on both points. That's my plan unless the Ford dealers play the ADM game with the Special Edition. If that's the case, my next car will be German.
