I was reading a few posts on this thread until I hit the negative ones.

Jeez. Talk about a poopie diaper.

I am happy for whoever wins. Why does it matter who it was? (or what he does for a living?)

I suppose the same whiners would ***** at the guy who picked the winning lotto numbers, or hit the jackpot at the Casino. Probably the same group of bastards who key a car because it is nicer than theirs... Just when I think people can not get any more crass or shallow.

Anyway, enough of the rant -

Enjoy your car Kory!!! Enjoy the hell out of it - these cars are like Viagra on wheels...

I hope they allow someone to go in my place, like family or something. That would be a major jerk move. Wish me luck!

BTW, thanks for EVERYONE who voted and all those who have congratulated me. I will make sure to do TMS proud and "accidentally" mention them in the interviews. LOL.

If they try to screw you, let them know you're serving your country. If they do decide to be a jerk, let them know you have a whole lot of support behind you and won't appreciate getting ripped off. Hopefully you won't have to worry about any of that... in the mean time...
Congrats!

Certainly no hard feelings here.
I read everything you posted on your 3.8 forum. Some of the stuff you wrote seemed a bit condescending and immature. I find it funny that you don't think it was possible for anyone to get more votes than you got. That smacks of conceit; hence, the "weenie" comment. No big deal though....I didn't mean to say that you're a bad person or anything. Just a little "weenie-esqe" LOL

Wow, lets get real here.... I don't think it's a good idea to ***** and moan about losing, but do you really think that people who complain about losing should be grouped together with the people who key nice cars? Hahahaha...that's certainly a stretch.

And as far as *****ing about a lotto winner.... apples and oranges, my friend. Everyone faces the same exact odds in lotto. And there are no possible biases. There is simply nothing to debate in a lotto drawing.

Sorry - my point is not about comparing lottos / contests (I am aware of the differences), rather it is about jealousy and sour grapes; some people can't be happy for anyone else who ends up (regardless of how) in a better situation. (Politicians and Oil Executives excluded )

Of course, subjectivity only spices it up.

Perhaps the parallel between keying a car and whining is, as you say, a stretch. But I suspect that the common thread and again my point, is jealousy.

I understand that everyone here has an opinion - and usually I say nothing. But to see the guy get beaten up because he won a car, well, as minimal as verbal assaults are on TMS, that one just struck a nerve. Nevertheless, my original statements did conclude with the acknowledgment that they were a rant...

Hey Icehawk...Are you in Iraq?

Coupla questions...when do you sleep and how much down time do you have?
I notice you posted at 4:09 PM which after midnight Thursday - Iraq
and 7:32pm which is 3:32am Thursday - Iraq

I know some guys in an Engineer Battalion and an Armored Cavalry Regiment
and they say down time is minimal.
Are you lucky enough to be stationed somewhere with iDirect or LinkStar?

Hey man. Down time is minimal here but I am fortunate enough to work (mostly when I'm not on mission) in a S-6 Communcation Shop. So I have simi-regular internet and mostly crappy phone services. It's all good though.

......I just think that this contest thing has gotten waaay outta hand. I still think the integrity of the contest was a little shady..instead of it being a "popularity " contest, Ford shoulda just picked a winner themselves to avoid ALL of these issues.
