I'm really curious to hear the "real reason" myself. It definitely seems Ford could improve it's system and communication between the plant-dealership-FCS employees. Everyone I have spoken to at Ford has been extremely nice I just think they don't have the tools or ability to get the right information. My dealer thinks my car is on a car carrier somewhere driving around while Deysha tells me it hasn't shipped yet. I don't think anyone is lying to me I just think it's a flawed system. My car was released for shipping on July 21 and here we are a week later and my car hasn't made it to the dealership 15 miles away. I'm betting there is a more efficient away to do things but I could be wrong.
It's frustrating but I know all this will be a distant memory when I get my car!

Deysha confirmed mine is being built now. Its ETA is 8/8/11. Of course, that is subject to change. IF it arrives then it will have been 13 weeks to the day since I ordered it. My salesman told me 8 to 14 weeks.
I still keep thinking I have made a mistake and should have waited another year and bought a used one. After my husband drove one he said, "There is no point buying used. You will just get something that someone else has ran the @#$% out of. Go order what you want."

Well after four months of waiting from order to delivery my dads car finally showed up and we picked it up today. I have been very surprised by the tracking of Ford's vehicles. I actually received a phone call from a FCS rep while I was at the dealer and he stated the car was still sitting at the ramp waiting to be shipped, I was literally sitting in the car.
Either way the car is awesome and he loves it. His has a fit finish issue though where the A pillar is touching the fender and it's metal on metal no paint. Dealer said they would fix. Mine did not have this and neither did the gt500 they had on the lot.

I picked up my California Special yesterday and I'm loving it! Here's a few pics after it's 1st coat of wax. Thank you to Deysha and FCS for keeping me in the loop, made waiting much easier!

I just heard from Deysha. I ordered my GT on 7/5, the build date is 8/8 and delivery is set for 8/25 and I have the VIN number. Hopefully there won't be too many delays.

Got my base GT today! I don't know if the phone calls are what made it ship or not, but anyway its a great car!
I still will probably never order another car again.
I got 125 miles on it today and I didn't even leave the dealer until 2pm lol.
Oh and the MT-82 shifts like BUTTER. So smooth.

I'm actually surprised that you had to order the car based on what you got. The reason that I ended up ordering was because all I could find on dealer lots were base cars with gears or fully loaded $40k premiums.

I got all my add ons before I even have the car.LOL.. 10 days to go.. getting more exciting by the day..My only concern is I leave for vac on the 12th for 4 days.. I hate to take it to the airport. Unless i take a limo service to take me..6am flight..ouch!! So I'm kind of hoping delivery of car is delayed until i come back..Would dealer hold car there?? I would say no..Trade in is involved...thoughts?? Ill call next friday to get update of delivery
