VIN, Build, Delivered: The 2012 Edition
You should not only have your VIN, but you should have your window sticker available by tomorrow if it's not already up. That usually pops up about a week prior to the build.
Thanks Double-EDad. In fact I ordered a fairly basic GT...performance white, spoiler delete, red/cashmere interior, security/rear sensor option. The dealer in New York told me after I ordered that they had no delivery slots for a mustang which is why it is taking longer. I know he gave me the run around but not much I can do now. I'll contact them to get the VIN as you suggest. Thanks again.

Welcome and congrats on your order!! You can private message me your order number and your dealer name and I can get your VIN and other info. If you have your VIN already, pm it to me and I can get some more info on your order for you.

Great, ETA just got pushed to 8/7. This is officially no longer fun, at all. 3 WEEKS after my car is built for it to travel 3.5 hours on a truck? Seriously?
Way to suck ALL the fun out of this Ford. And a big shout out to my dealer for being a bunch of idiots/liars.

That sucks bro, sorry. Did your dealer call and tell you that?
Deysha PM'd me.
My dealer has never told me anything, never gave me the VIN, window sticker, build date, nothing. I even called and asked them to check and they said "no new information" after I had the window sticker for a week.

Born-On Date, at last!!!
Sooo, after neurotically checking for a window sticker 5x/day for the past 2 weeks (and feeling zero confidence that my car would actually be built the week of the 25th as the build date got closer and still no sticker), I finally had it pop up over the weekend!!! The weird part...it was built on July 21st (Thursday) per the sticker, but as of 11 pm on Friday the 22nd, I couldn't access the window sticker in the system. But, no matter. It's there now.
Now that I know that my car exists, it's brutal waiting for delivery. I can only imagine how many switches are needed in different railyards to get it from Flat Rock to Minneapolis.
Kona Blue Mustang GT Premium with Oxford White over the top stripe.
Ordered: 6/22 Vin: 7/1 Build: 7/21 Window sticker: 7/24 (wtf?)
ETA: 8/8(ish)

My dealer called a few weeks ago and said my build date was this week. Since I had already asked Deysha twice I didn't ask anything more. On July 15 I called him and got the VIN but I could never get it to pop up. Today, using a different link, it did.
It shows the build date as 7/29/11. My dealer thinks I will have it the first week or two of August but I have my doubts. After waiting three months I really am having buyer's regret but I am sure I will love it when it finally gets here.
I have no idea how to track when it is actually built or ships.
Ordered: 5/10/11
Rcd build week: 7/6/11
VIN: 7/15/11
Window Sticker: 7/25/11
Scheduled build: 7/29/11
VIN: 1ZVBP8AM5C5240539

I think the hardest part in this information age is lack of information. Lots of people get misinformation from their dealer. Deysha and the Ford on-line crew (whatever their actual title is) are a very good bridge for that. You've come to the right place, just trust in what she tells you over your dealer... Until the dealer calls and says "bring your checkbook"...
Well since I don't have a car to occupy my time, I will spend it on here complaining.
I have to say I am REALLY sick of getting lied to, and I think its total BS that Ford can just keep pushing the ETA out and then telling me "well your car isn't even late yet". Umm, how can it ever be late if you're in charge of the ETA?????
I am also sick of hearing, "it will all be better when it gets here", easy for people with their car to say. My car has been built for a week, I live 3 hours from the plant, and they are saying 2 MORE weeks.
That lady a few posts back ordered her car over 3 weeks after me, lives 3 times further from the plant, and her ETA is the day after mine?! Wow that makes perfect sense.
