I hope they increase or completely eliminate the limiter with the Performance Package, if not

As to the exact number, I just recall that it was somewhere between 110 and 120. I know the speed limiter can be shut off with a tuner but that's a pretty expensive way to go if the only thing you want to do is disable the governor. Somebody should make an el-cheapo single function tuner that just does this one thing.

I'll be heading up to Detroit on the 4th also. Leaving on the 1st. If you see some crazy a**hole flashing his lights at you from a white pontiac, thats me.

I wish I was going up to TC though. Miss that place a bunch. Talking about heading up for cherryfest next year.

If you're looking at taking 23 or 275 up that way, they do have some construction on them. 75 is a worthy road if you want to avoid that, and connects back to both if you are heading farther north.

Sure Jerry, don't PM me.
Seriously though, there is a drag strip a half hour from my house.

Didn't know you could get stripe delete on the MCA package. I think that stripe is horrible.

OK, more driving impressions from this weekend's long drive.

I opted for my Skyline Drive circuit. I headed out from Manassas, VA (exit 43, I believe) via I-66 to Front Royal (exit 6). I filled up with gas and set the cruise and in those 37 miles, I got 25 MPG. I drove through Front Royal to Skyline Drive and then another 50 or so miles up Skyline Drive to Big Meadow. There I turned around and came back to US 211 and headed back down to Warrenton. From there I then went back to Manassas, VA. About 200 miles total along the way. Averaged about 24.6 MPG. Nothing particularly spirited or particularly easy. Just an average run with the car.

BUT. . .
  • I have to say this is the quietest, smoothest Ford I have ever owned. My F150 is good but this is leaps and bounds better. The car cruised at 70 like a dream. At one point I hit 80 and didn't even notice until I looked down at the speedometer.
  • In the twisties the EPAS was perfect. It just plain worked. The car stayed planted and never got out of shape even on 211 where it's quite curvy.
  • The seats were very comfortable. In the 4+ hours in the car I never felt uncomfortable or that I had to adjust the seat.
  • The A/C isn't as good as my F150. It works but it takes its sweet time. Of course it was 100 degrees this weekend.
  • The EP screen is hard to read with my dark polarized sunglasses. That was a little unexpected but probably not Ford's fault but rather the two technologies.
  • The backup camera is nice but no substitute for looking at the mirrors and out the windows. I almost backed into a pole looking at the camera view on the EP screen.
  • Shifting is smooth and throws are short. The engine just loves to rev.
  • 420 miles on the odometer now after barely a week of ownership. Probably another 2,000 in the next 2 weeks.
  • The mix of power and economy is perfect for me. I never felt like I lacked enough power to enjoy the car but also enjoyed the economy the V6 promises although I didn't quite see it. 107 more HP would be fun occasionally but not at all worth the premium to me. 305 offers adequate performance for a little youthful exuberance.

Jerry, be sure to drive by the Mustang plant! It will be a nice feeling to have your car as you drive by! Lol Ronn

I didn't even think about this. I always wear, and prefer, polarized sunglasses.

I'd give up the polarized before I'd give up the EP I think.
