Selling 2012 V6 to get used 5.0

random but I checked with my future insurance and if I would of gotten a 5.0, my insurance would of been the same price somehow. I was messing around with their online quote calculator and put some random 5.0's vin in and it still gave me the same quote.
I wanted a v6 and that's what I'm getting. I'm gonna learn to drive stick on it and I don't want a 422 hp monster to learn on and end up hurting others or myself. I have practiced already anyway with other cars but it'll be my first manual. Since everyone will pee their pants for the 2015 and sell their garage queen gt premiums for dirt cheap, I may trade mine in and get one if I'm not 100% happy with my little monster.

I financed 17K for my V6. The GT was 12K more. Same base cloth cars just different engines.
107 extra horses (generously) was not worth 12K plus interest over the term of the loan.
Beat it with a stick but if you can get a good deal on a v6, it really is the smart choice.

the base msrp is like 29,700.. 2-3k rebates and talking down to invoice..

msrp $29,710
let say you get them down to 28,000 and then you have a 2,000 rebate in that area that alone is 26,000.

Not that anyone in these forums would fall into that category but there are enough GT (Corvette, etc.) buyers who are willing to overpay for a car to help with their inferiority complexes. That sucks for the other GT buyers but does let Ford give free engines to their V6 customers.
As a veteran I'm often thanked for my service but as a V6 Mustang owner, I need to do the same for the GT buyers who paid for my motor.

well in my case I get z plan price so I could get the car for less then 26.. also you will be paying tax title and lic fees on the v6. I just think its silly to say the gt is 12k more when its really like 3-5k more..

Anyway my '13 GT was $29,700 (that's including auto & red candy which add almost $1500) i could've gotten a '12 for $2500 less because of rebates so what's so hard to believe about 26-27 especially w/ a manual?????

-1000 rebate -750 customer cash
= 27,729
leftovers & loss leaders sell for thousands less,
of course there's the occasional sucker that walks in and pays MSRP

You have that backwards, Ford takes the GT buyers to the cleaners to pass more savings on to the V6 buyers. Do the math. A GT costs the same as as V6 Mustang PLUS the cost of a crate coyote. So every GT basically pays for a free V6 engine for a V6 buyers.
Not that anyone in these forums would fall into that category but there are enough GT (Corvette, etc.) buyers who are willing to overpay for a car to help with their inferiority complexes. That sucks for the other GT buyers but does let Ford give free engines to their V6 customers.

With all the volume sales of the V6, Ford is able to do R&D to create the Boss 302, the 5.0, and the 5.8L GT500.....

That's why I did my homework before I bought a brand new car for the first time, my window sticker for my 2013 v6 says 29k excluding tax title and transfer, I paid 26.5k out the door for it.

The most common mistake is when people compare the deal they got on a 5.0 to the MSRP on a v6. with your incentives and plan you could get a v6 for 18 or less.

I didn't say it was 12K difference across the board. In my case it actually "was" on the day I priced cars. This was in Nov. 2010. The 5.0 was new, hot and in demand. The dealer was not going down when they couldn't keep those cars in stock.
It's this miscommunication/misinformation and things taken out of context that sucks about this forum. In my case, it was the smart move buying the v6, but maybe not for you. Happy shopping.

When I bought my 11 v6 back in October 2010 it was around 7k more for the 5.0. For me, I wasn't willing to dole out 7k more for the additional performance and acceleration that comes with the V8. Not to say that its not worth the extra 7k too some but many like me, its not. For the extra 100 plus HP plus handling upgrades I couldn't convince myself to spend the extra 7k. Don't get me wrong, I love the 5.0 and the power that comes with it but don't love it enough to spend the extra cash on it.

I got to page 5 and stopped reading.. at age 54 I could have bought a GT etc.. All of you are missing the point. Speed is relative to what.. Cylinders absolutely not!! its power to weight. But that aside I live in NY where the speed limit is 55.. i do go faster than that.. but where can you go 160+ etc.. Not everyone buys a Mustang to go to the track.. If I wanted a track car i would get a notch and build in a turbo and go 9's. For me is was about the look, the features and the enjoyment of the drive. Not to race like the local ricers who want to race anything..On the the street to boot. buy what you enjoy and want to spend your paycheck on each month. if the OP wants to go in the hole money wise with the GT only to be where he can't even afford to drive it.. go for it. Otherwise if you are not going to be going around with your huge check book paying the 10 grand difference for every potential V6 owner to get the GT.. STFU Please!!!! V6 owners stop defending your choice.. it was your choice and the GT owners at the end of the day don't get laid because they have the mighty V8 even though in their mind they believe they do...
