You and I had nearly the same taste in our early cars . . . . that car was a straight line rocket !!
Just don't try to stop it as also had four wheel drum brakes ... I'm lucky I didn't die ... I hindsight,, I wish I'd kept that Chevelle ... Death trap not withstanding,, restored that thing would be worth some serious money ...

Sounds a lot like my '70 442 . . . it was a junker back in '78 when I owned it, I put a lot of work into it just to get it on the road, but still a lot of fun . . . I often wish I could have stashed it on the back 40 somewhere and then restored it someday . . .
But today's cars are so much better . . . I had that thing up to just over 100 a couple times just to prove it could do it, and it was scary as hell . . . the fenders were fluttering so much I thought they were about to fly off, I couldn't really tell if the tires were in contact with the road or not, and it took about 1/2 mile to slow down from that speed, good thing it was a long straight empty highway!
