Still don't understand what the slight on the "Chinese built transmission" is. I know that people like to think that everything not built in America is crap but if this is a design issue and not a build issue then don't you think this transmission would have the same issues no matter where in the world it was built?
Given their experience and reputation, I doubt Getrag would specify a substandard material in their design, which leaves manufacture or QC as the culprits, BOTH of which occur in China...
Either Ford failed to properly specify or oversee those processes, or the Chinese threw in some junk material...
Logic would indicate that Ford would keep an eagle eye on a brand new factory in a "developing" economy during their first production runs, so that leaves the Chinese substituting junk materials... Of course they have never done anything like that before, like having lead in paint for kids' toys, or ethylene glycol in pet food....

A Man Just Needs Some....
The intention was to inform you guys that there was a duplicate thread and you guys may want to check that one also for any more info on the issue. But you Boss guys are a bit ridiculous. You bought a mustang and this is a mustang community. You didn't buy a Ferrari. And in all honesty, you bought an upgraded GT. Contribute a little more to the rest of the site. There's some good characters here. And just maybe you guys might learn a few things. And BTW, none of you guys can beat me.

Stuff made elsewhere is just going to be something where going to have to deal with for now and long into the future. Unless some politics change here companies are going to continue their outsourcing to save money left and right.
Companies are in existence to make money and Ford is no exception. I still cant believe that using a tranny that uses parts manufactured in England and Germany, assembled in China, shipped to America comes out cheaper. Something must really be wrong here to scare that business away. Oh right the problem is Capital Hill. Companies are being scared away from doing business in our own country because of rising taxes, pressures from workers unions who ask for higher salaries because of the ever increasing cost of living (food, goods, services) which just leads back to increasing taxes.
If Washington DC doesn't change you might as well get used to the idea of products not being made here.

Story is going more mainstream and hit Autoblog:

Although lately they have reported every investigation, so...
I wonder what the cost delta is on the Tremac if if Ford should just throw them on to begone with this mess.
