I think there has to be some understanding about C5: the entire lead-up to the 2011 Mustang GT was about how much faster it was going to be than the SS and there would be no competition at all for the GT. A tenth lead is less than I was hoping for, especially after the hype it received from the Mustang guys at C5.

The new 2011 GT is definitely impressive, but I was just expecting a bit more in the 1/4 mile department; though 0-60 is really impressive, I think.

^ you have to remember that it's a tenth in the quater mile drag...on the track...the mustang is going to destroy the camaro, thats where it won't even be close...this car is an all around performer..not just a car that goes straight

I think the gap will grow for auto versus auto trannies. The GT auto is trapping 3-5 mph faster than the SS.

Hey mister - that's a *government* backed warranty! Show some respect!

BTW - the IRS has a new form where Camaro owners are required to disclose any modifications. Penalties for non-compliance include shaving your mullet and confiscation of the broken appliances in your front yard.

The 1/4 mile is just part of the equation. The Mustang is just a superior car in every aspect. Even handling.
Who knows what some simple bolt on can do.

Rear wheels turnin', rubber's burnin'.
Five-Point-Oh, Five-Point-Oh.

Ford's got a pony car, the Five-Point-Oh.
Just a little Mustang, it's a Five-Point-Oh.
Vee-eight engine and a six-speed trans,
With a little tunin', it'll take Le Mans.
Rear wheels turnin', rubber's burnin'.
Five-Point-Oh, Five-Point-Oh.

Five-Point-Oh, Five-Point-Oh,
When you floor the throttle,
It can really go.
Five-Point-Oh, Five-Point-Oh,
Blow the doors off
Any Ca-ma-ro.
Rear wheels turnin', rubber's burnin'.
Five-Point-Oh, my Five-Point-Oh.

Thirteen seconds in the quarter-mile,
Burnin' so much rubber, it'll make you smile.
Fat tires rollin' with four disc brakes,
Big bad Brembos, they've got what it takes.
Rear wheels turnin', rubber's burnin'.
Five-Point-Oh, my Five-Point-Oh.

Brighter Pony!

From Autoblog...

It's going to take a well trained eye to spot any visual differences between the 2010 and 2011 models, but there are differences. First off, the aluminum pony in the grill has been lightened a shade. In addition, the front and rear fascias are slightly tweaked.

lol
Noticed some additional arguments
- Car mags are now political/unprofessional unless raving about the Camaro
- 6.2 engine is now superior to 5.0 regardless of performance numbers
- The Camaro still has the better ride...somehow.
- The 5.0 is just about tapped out
- The camaro is still faster, the numbers mean nothing

Yeah I quoted the Autoblog comment about the IRS and they started to bust on Autoblog. I'm sure nobody on there ever quoted a nice thing they said about the Camaro.

No, of course not! Even though I've seen nothing but quoting autoblog and every other automagazine statistic quoted for the past year. But suddenly they now mean nothing or are biased/unprofessional/political? Gimme a break.

What I also am failing to understand is how the 2010 315HP Mustang GT was just behind the Camaro in all tests, but the 2011, with 100 more HP and better handling, is now only even or still slower (according to C5). This one might be my short coming because I am failing to remember every quoted statistic, but the mustang didn't gain that much weight.

Camaro5! LMFAOi have never seen so many butthurt camaro owners.

Don't bring your mustang crap here your still driving an ugly car, your still driving a ford, your taillights are still unbearable, we still have the faster car and your still going to loose. thanks GET OFF OUR FORUM.
nobody cares about your crapstangs, this is Camaro land.
mustangs suck. go cry on another forum site.
Anyway, cut the story short, the one thing that just proves the CAMARO is a leader to the MUSTANG is the bullish sales pattern of the 2010 Camaros for over 8 months straight.

Why...?
You KNOW the answer!

case closed.

I had missed that last one. Yes, the Camaro outsells the mustang during back-to-back transition periods. What an amazing feat!

Plus, if you make a crack about Ford not declaring bankruptcy and not being 60 percent owned by the government, you will get a warning.

I learned that the hard way. Or was it because I said that the Camaro had a good run and it's time for the Mustang to get back on top?

I find that I'm a much more sane and happy Mustang fan when I simply ignore the competition and all of the pointless juvenile bickering associated with it. From all sides.

I see one guy over at C5 whipped out the nuclear 12.58 1/4 time for a stock SS with the implication that either the Mustang can muster no better than 12.8 or that every hack in an SS is going to be able to get mid 12s on command.
