Motor Trend review is up !
I have nothing but gratitude for the Challenger and Camaro coming back to market. Thank you GM and Chrysler for bringing back rivalries that I only saw as a kid. The Mustang is only this good because of competition. So, Camaro and Challenger fans, keep buying your brand. We are all helping each other get better cars. I'm very proud of Ford, and plan on buying my 5th "better than ever" Mustang!

Remember the Late Night fiasco with Conan losing the Tonight Show because NBC didn't want to let go of Jay Leno, and how Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman and everyone else was taking potshots at NBC with extra jabs at Carson Daly because he's the butt monkey of late night?
The Dodge Challenger R/T is the muscle car version of Carson Daly.

Most car rags don't even recognize the R/T. They compare the GT and the SS to the top of the line SRT8! hahahahah
The Camaro guys are in denial if they think this won't impact sales. Hardcore Mustang fans knew the 5.0 was coming and waited. I expect 2011 to be a very strong year for the Stang and sales of the Camaro to taper off. Nothing against the Camaro but sales usually soften after the first year.
I think you can get pretty much the same front fascia on the V6 in the Mustang Club of America package
yep, the Camaro definitely got the benefit of a fresh redesign and a bunch of Camaro fans that had been waiting for a long time, while the Mustang crowd had been satisfied all along and/or was waiting for the 2011 release . . . I think the 2010 sales comparison will tell a different story from 2009

Yes, 500 RWP is not hard with bolt-ons on LS3's. It's fairly easy and streetable on LS2's as well. LS1's take alot of mods to do it with, but even it has been done before on stock cubes without FI.
N/A I agree. But with boost not so much. Though the LS ports can match the 4v's, they can't on valve area. That makes a difference when atmospheres are forced in.
I've been saying this for a while even on GM boards. Example: a bone stock 6.0 LS2 making 400 hp will see a garunteed 50 RWHP increase with the LS3/L92 upper and corresponding tune. So if a motor with .2L more and vastly superior heads is "only" making 25-30 more hp there is plenty more on the table.
Count it as my opinion if you want but if Ford mad a 6.2L with all of the DOHC etc it would be huge. DOHC alone adds alot of girth.
To play devils advocate when they compared the 2010 SS to the 2010 Stang most here and everywhere else said "wait till the 5.0!" Why can't they do the same?
Many here said the 5.0 will "blow the doors" etc etc. While faster yes, a skull dragging it is not.
They have 6.2L, They have S/C's (from them), they have "insert implied advantage here" it's what happens when two similarly compared cars with disimilar tech clash. The engine itself is not the advantage of the new 5.0, the whole package is and how it achieves it is.
No it wouldn't be "no contest" but it would even the odds a bit given the 3.73 geared track pack closed the distance some in the 2010 Stang vs 2010 Camaro.
Well ya the auto camaro has less hp than the auto stang. It should be expected. But if the CTS-V is any indicator an auto LS3 camaro would be faster than the manual LS3 camaro.
While yes it is great, not even close would be an elise vs a 3rd gen. The numbers will prove comparible but ultimately favoring the stang. The same was said about the 1/4 mile predictions by some. They are quite comparible.
I would expect no less.
Nope. It's a driver's race, and a goal to set for. They (scott settlemyer, and Camaro brand manager as well as all Camaro brass) asked us what we wanted and listened for the most part. Well they asked again and you can guess what responses they are getting. We have 12 insiders with a whole list of demands. Rivalry is great.
Well if you are just comparing engine output, I think you can make more power with the LS3. Displacement is displacement. It isn't that hard to get them over 500rw. The 5.0 isn't going to come out of the gates with aftermarket heads and cams available. Seen any 3v heads from AFR, TrickFlow? We just NOW got aftermarket 2v heads!
The 5.0 uses a lot of great tricks to get to 412hp. High RPM, VCT, DOHC, etc. The LS3 is practically asleep at 422. Not a Camaro fan, just stating the facts. Now if Ford made a 6.2L with the same tech....

-2010 Camaro vs 2011 Mustang is onfair
-Only .1 sec in the quarter is no big deal
-2011 Mustang has CAI and mid length headers from the factory, not fair
-Put 3.73 gears in the Camaro and it's no contest
