Motor Trend review is up !
Well, I am impressed by both cars but most of all by the V6. Even though it was a Track Pack car that we won't be able to order for a while, the numbers were outstanding.
I was slightly disappointed that the 5.0 didn't go a little quicker but I'm sure BOTH cars will be faster once the full tests by the major Mustang rags come out. Both cars will almost assuredly be faster with drag radials or slicks, probably at least 2-3 tenths in the right hands.
The one V6 test where they banged it around on the street and up and down the highway and still got 27 MPG combined is fantastic. Really has me torn over wanting a V6 to drive to work or a 5.0 to terrorize the street with!

I think it has already been discussed, to death I might add, that the 5.0 is nearly tapped out from a N/A standpoint. So saying this, swapping out N/A parts on both SS and GT, would obviously put the SS in the lead.
Exactly who, in their right mind, would say "Ok, let's design a new engine for our most iconic car, but limit ourselves to 412HP and then maybe 30HP more...and then we stop there. We go NO farther. We'll need to design another new engine after that and pretty much write off all the costs we had designing this engine. But this will be enough to get us through the next few years."
Ford has been knocking things out of the park throughout this entire 5.0 development, why would they suddenly get stupid now?
(also laughing at how the Camaro people suddenly claim the numbers they've been using for their go-to references suddenly now mean nothing.)
Camaro5 Recap so far
-2010 Camaro vs 2011 Mustang is onfair
-Only .1 sec in the quarter is no big deal
-2011 Mustang has CAI and mid length headers from the factory, not fair
-Put 3.73 gears in the Camaro and it's no contest
-I thought the interior in the Camaro was better, what changed from 2010 to 2011
lol

I'm waiting for "Yeah? Well the camaro still sold better than the mustang for the past 9 months! SO... THERE!"
I wouldn't go that far. I finally had some seat time in one last week. It was nice but I like my GT500 better. For a car the Camaro5 guys think is just a few ticks away from a GT500 it felt a lot slower than my car.
It is a lot slower, especially once you are moving. Race one from say 20 - 140 sometime, you'll destroy it.
2010 GT00
12.6-12.8 range with a bad drive
11.9-12.5 with a good driver
11.5 on drag radials

Good comparison would be Evan Smith times once he releases them for the new GT. I believe he did 11.95 @ 120 in the 2010.

It is a lot slower. I still kick myself in the pants for not getting one. I got sticker shock and went the GT route insead...and then went mod crazy. So much for saving $.
You have to have a BIG cam to hit 500 to the wheels cam only but it has been done. 500 with Heads and Cam....now thats not very uncommon at all.
This 5.0 will not touch LS3 power numbers by swapping cams, adding headers (even though it has them all ready), a CAI (it has one all ready). And a tune.
Cut it how you want. NA for NA the camaro is still king

Well if you are just comparing engine output, I think you can make more power with the LS3. Displacement is displacement. It isn't that hard to get them over 500rw. The 5.0 isn't going to come out of the gates with aftermarket heads and cams available. Seen any 3v heads from AFR, TrickFlow? We just NOW got aftermarket 2v heads!
The 5.0 uses a lot of great tricks to get to 412hp. High RPM, VCT, DOHC, etc. The LS3 is practically asleep at 422. Not a Camaro fan, just stating the facts. Now if Ford made a 6.2L with the same tech.....

I think this is my favorite rationale so far from over there....
Good thing it does considering all the problems it has had so far, no telling what will fall off of it after a few years of driving.
