but how many sales overall do you think they would lose because of the price increase? I agree that I would rather have a car made in the US, but it just isn't going to happen anymore.

So how many sales do you think this tranny issue is costing them????? Just saying.

After 8400 trouble-free miles, this is the issue that I think popped up on my 4/13/11 build-date GT 'vert last week. Made me angry, but also glad to be getting a 6AT soon. Have an appt @ the dealer next Thursday morning for the clutch issue. Will let everyone know what happens.

A recent visit to my local dealers showed all but one car in each of two locations had the 6MT. Almost ALL cars sitting on the lots are manuals?!? When has anyone ever seen that? Looks to me like this MT82 issue is slowing sales a little.

While looking for a GT statewide, I found a 85/15 (approximate) split in GT manuals to GT autos. Conversely, the only V6 manuals I could find were performance pack cars.

Eric, what exactly is the issue you're experiencing ?
Keep us posted on what that tranny issue turns out to be. Glad you're finally getting an AT.
Looks like you couldn't come to a deal with the dealership.

Yeah, i worked out a deal with the local dealership on a trade-in for ordering a 2012, ended up being cheaper than buying the 2011 at the out-of-town dealer. However, the arrangement is that I keep my 2011 'vert until the 2012 arrives, and so was going to try to sell it ouright until the clutch started acting up on the way home from the dealer for the trade-in-appraisal. Symptoms: did not want to go into R or 1st, and then when it finally did, the clutch just slipped. Finally got it home tho. I think it's either the Loose Pressure Plate Bolts TSB or the clutch/brake pedal assembly TSB.

Can't wait to be getting my Grabber Blue coupe tho. How are those Koni STR.Ts as compared to stock on your coupe?

Since i already have the notchy 1-2 shift, i'm wondering i'f mine will end up doing the same thing.
In the meantime, i'm shifting it very carefully as to not miss a shift and accelerate internal damage ( If any !!) .
Love the Koni's, awesome handling but not to harsh over stock dampers. It hugs the road and body roll is almost non existant.
Glad things worked out good for you .
BTW, have you read that thread on AFM about 2012 GT owners having issues with their 6 speed automatics !

+100 BINGO!This is CORRECT!

Things are moving slowly!I wonder why so slowly?

Are they not in any hurry to come with a fix so that most will be out of warranty by then?HMMMM?

However they are committed to continual improvement. What this really means is we are making improvements (haven't seen this yet) in the units we are currently building. Not fixing the current issues with the cars that have already been built & sold.

Do what you can to pacify the customer until the warranty is up then it's not our problem anymore! If they didn't buy an extended warranty they have 12 months or 12,000 miles on the transmission.

Will you (FORD) do Freaking something before the cars resale value drops like a rock?Or before the warranty is up?

The powertrain warranty is 5yrs 60,000 miles. The transmission is covered under this warranty, the clutch is not to my knowledge.

Add Mexico in there beside China as well. A lot of low QC stuff gets by from there as well, (cough cough) Tremecs output shaft fiasco (cough cough). Who is the supplier of said units with the problem?

Back in the 70's I sold tools and contractor supplies via watts lines for a couple of years. The lowest priced wrenches were from India - we'd say "stamped out by elephants"! lol Not to worry though, they had a lifetime guarantee (and the company hoped the user died before the wrenches did!). lolol

Of course our superior line back then was from J-pin... J-pin Ohio (said in a garbled voice...)

Those were the days! We were more comedians than salesmen.

Who knew it would start with wrenches and wind up with transmissions.

... Ignore me tonight... lol

NOW I am steamed. Dealer had my car ALL day today. Svce advisor called me at 4:30 to tell me that they tried EVERYTHING but could not duplicate the clutch issue my wife had! So that's it! They're going to do NOTHING! ARRRGH!

I assured them (and you) that my wife knows how to work a stick. (OK Beavis & Butt-Head, keep it clean) Not only that but she drove my Mustang for almost 2 months with no issue at all, so she knows how it SHOULD be!

This all just makes me glad I am trading it in on a 2012 6AT. BTW, just got an e-mail from my dealer today with my order #, saying I already have an ETA of 6/21, less than a month since my order date of 5/23.

Okay. But did you ask them if they tried to duplicate it in YOUR car?

Basically it is going to become their problem when you trade the car in and it pops up while test driving to a new customer. I hope you have a good enough relationship with the dealer to find out what happens to the car. Its one thing to pass off a customer complaint but if it is a car the dealer is trying to sell they might be more inspired to go up the chain at ford for some answers.

I totally agree with you, but frankly I don't care what they do with it. This would all be easier/simpler if there was a one-step prescribed "fix" out there, but as previously discussed, there just isn't any one fix yet & Ford/dealers are currently handling these complaints on a case basis.

Meanwhile, I have one potential outright buyer to whom I relayed this entire episode and he is still interested in the car (it's still under warranty after all)! So today we are going to drive the 35 minutes to the dealer in my Toyota (haven't picked up my Mustang yet, wasn't going to), and he will test drive my 'vert and see what he thinks. If he decides he would like to buy it, he's agreed to drive it back to my house, where we will work out the transaction details. But if he decides to decline, I plan to just get my personal effects out of the 'vert and leave it at the dealer for good. I already have my VIN for the 2012 6AT I've ordered, so I'm plenty psyched about that!
