Leaking Differential and Rusty Shock?

Decided to look under my car today and check things out. Noticed some fluid around the back of the differential. Wth? Why is it leaking there. I did have the breather leak and that was fixed awhile ago but this seems to be a new leak.

What's up with the shock? Is that normal?

My rear shocks seem to do the same. Bit of rubbing not sure why

Regarding the diff, was it worked on? Looks like the sealing may have started to fail allowing a bit of leakage.

The differential wasn't worked on. The TSB for the breather tube was applied.

I'm not sure whats up with the shock...

My 2012 has 10,000 km's on it. One rear shock is leaking and when I took it to get Krown rust sprayed the guy said there is a lot of rust under the car. Ford needs to paint/coat parts before putting them on the car..

Looks like your pinion seal needs to be replaced. Had mine replaced at 15k miles.

Did they say what caused it?

No they didn't and mine started out like yours and a month or so later I started to get a couple of drops on the garage floor.
It only took them an hour to complete the job under warranty.

My 2013 had plenty of rust on the underparts for a car that was 2 months old. I think its the low quality foreign metal used.

Yea I don't care about the rusty axle and diff cover. More concerned with the shock. It looks like the metal is rubbing.

My v6 is doing the same rust on the shock. It's really nothing to worry about. The dust and moisture cover is not centered and is rubbing the paint off the main body of the shock. It really just looks bad. You might be able to grab it and re center iit over the shock and clean it up and hit it with black spray paint. I would get that bearing or seal that is leaking fixed asap though!
