At this point, I don't see them abandoning the Mustang DNA for a long, long time if ever. Particularly where the next generation car is concerned. 50th anniversary and all that.

I'm happy with my '08. I'm not sold on the update but I still think it was a smart move on Ford's part to expand their market. After all, most of the folks who like the 2005-2009 models already own one. There's little point in restyling a car to appeal to that audience.

Of course, that will all hinge on whether Ford continues to evolve the classic look for the 21st century, or abandons the retro inspiration and builds something completely different altogether.

If they go that last route - unless it's a spectacular design - I may just jump ship and get something else entirely.
I couldn't agree more, I'm just hoping the '14'/'15 car will be smaller, and have a full fastback greenhouse ala 67-68. Otherwise, I'll either step up to a 2012-13. Or just keep my current 05 GT, indefinitely.

Same here.

I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of the Giugiaro influence.

I don't think we have either.

There was no Giugiaro influence. The 2010 was designed prior to the Giugiaro design.

It's possible that perhaps the Giugiaro concept, may have taken some design cues from the 2010. Such as the headlight buckets, grille, hips, and conclave trunk lid. And perhaps even the upper door crease lines, above the C-Scoop/hockey stick sections as well.

At any rate, what I believe Aaron was referring to in regards to the Giugiaro concept, was the full fastback styled decklid.

I can only thank God that they didn't go with that ugly concept. I would have really been pissed, as I think that's probably the ugliest Mustang styling exercise ever.

Specifically, yes. But I honestly wasn't aware of the 2010-designed-prior thing.

Shapely roofline aside, I think I agree with you. You want ugly-*** taillights, forget the 2010. The Giugiaro doesn't just take the cake… it bakes it, frosts it, eats it, craps it out and throws it right back at you.

Now that I think of it, perhaps it was a preemptive move.

Other than the inspired, full fastback type greenhouse. IMHO, the Giugiaro concept was nothing but a complete abomination, and I'm also glad that Ford didn't put such an unappealing, and hideous car into production. Let alone putting the Mustang's name upon it !

The worst part, by far, was the interior. Cow print? Right?

Whatever it was, it made the 2010's camo look downright classy.
