How Many Will Buy a 2010 Mustang?

With all the hype surrounding the forthcoming 2010 Mustang - but keeping in mind the rapidly tightening economy - I'm wondering how many people around here are 100% committed to buying a 2010 (or 2011) Mustang...and how many will have to take a pass due to the downturn.

I think I'm trying to gauge - informally, of course - how Ford can expect to do with this car in the middle of serious economic challenges.

Not going to have the money barring a sea change in my fortunes and the current economic climate. Should I happen into a windfall, however, it is still high on my list of "unfunded priorities."

Sorry to get off topic so quick within the thread...but I'm hoping to take advantage of the introduction of the new '10 model, the economic downturn and the off season and buy a used 2005+ Mustang GT.

Here's hoping lots of you want to trade in your S197's for the new body, thereby flooding the used market and lowering the value of the '05-09 models!

edit: Except, my Dad (and part of me) will tell me that I should get a truck (to tow the racecar...so my friend/crew chief no longer has to + I'd kinda like to tow a small pop-up for camping) but Ford doesn't really offer what I want in a truck (i.e. small size, lightweight, high output, manual tranny, 2wd, posi, sport suspension, premium model, sport trim, fully optioned upgraded interior, bucket seats...what I want is a Mustang with a hitch or an SVT Ranger!!) I could get close if I factory ordered a new Ranger XLT 4.0 and modded it but realistic...my best truck choice is a Tacoma X-Runner. Sorry again, completely off topic!

Personally, my purchase of the '05 was a once in a lifetime thing, so, short of winning the lottery, I won't be in a position to buy another Mustang for a looooooooooooong time.

That's not to say I wouldn't buy a new one though, if I had the money, although I'd wait for the 5.0 in 2011.......and keep my '05.

The '10 has sparked some interest and I can't wait to drive a '11 5.0, but I think I'll be keeping the Mach for reasons being . . . still loving it, no car payment and only 22,000 miles.

My 06 will be paid off in 2010. Save up for year and add a 11 to the stable or a used GT500.

Not going to happen here either. As I see it, the current economy will continue in this cycle for perhaps another 1.5 years before anything major changes. As is I've been cut back on hours about 4-5 per week - all OT, so I cannot handle any major purchases.
+ With Fords announcement that they are bringing back employee pricing + rebates, I cannot see how anyone can turn down a S197 at those prices that may be considering a new stang in the future. I know I couldn't justify spending $8k more for a new model year.

I'll probably wait for the 5.0L-equipped 2011 Mustang GT.

I am not getting one as I am saving for a gt500. I think you will also see more people ready to get rid of their 05's when the 5.0 comes out.

Same here, 2010 does not improve on the current one. They may improve features but the total package doesn't sell me. Don't get me wrong, its a sweet looking ride but from all the pics out and most are dead on I assume, it doesn't stir me like the 05+. My next look is the new platform model in 2014 or whenever.

Just bought a 2008 Bullitt - can't see me getting one any time soon. Besides that, I really like my Bullitt. Now on the other hand, my daughter wants to by one after she graduates college.

Keeping the 07 for a long time, honestly my next mustang will probably be another S197. My 07 will be paid off in the spring and the PJ's are starting to pop up in the high 30's/ low 40's so that will most likely be my next purchase.

My next NEW stang wont be until 2014 50th ann. as a Mustang guy I dont care what it looks like or if the GT is a hybrid lol, Im getting a 50th!
