has the OK to sell been given??
I agree that if they are just waiting for the 17th they should just announce it. But as far as your response of just cancelling it, that's just plain impatience on your behalf. Things like this happen all the time due to quality constraints and the ever increasing demands of consumers. Your cancelled order would make another sale for another salesman, but you now have wasted your salesman's time, who ordered it for you. All because you want something right now. And will now settle for something else, maybe even wait longer, just to spite them. Hopefully you understand that the time they spent with you checking options and getting it ordered just the way you wanted it, he made NOTHING. You kept him from making any sort of income at that time by selling a vehicle to someone else.
I'm sorry for the rant, but I hate when people only think about themselves, when if they just understood what goes into something first, they may approach it differently.
You talked about how you don't understand how we let the manufacturer's get away with this, I wonder how they put up with you cancelling it on a whim?

He is the customer, it is his money, he is under no obligation to buy, he has the right to cancel as he wishes, even if that is on a whim.
Do I think it is a smart thing for him to do, or would I do it in his case...well it's always debatable.
But based upon how he feels as a consumer he has the right to do as he pleases, even if that is canceling on a whim!
Not even an issue now I know but I don't think the guy should be judge because he currently/(previously) feels/(felt) unhappy as a consumer.
lol @ whining about "ever increasing consumer demands"
All the while we pay ever increasing prices.
Deal with the demands or find another business.
RULE #1 OF ANY SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS:
THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT.

Honestly, I don't feel the same way about this.

Don't even bother responding eci as we all know you are always right.
You guys need to chill about this whole "cars on hold" thing. I understand the desire to want the car, but be reasonable. If you're all about going back to the dealer for petty problems, then maybe Ford should deliver you a car and see if it lasts. There's a reason if they're on hold, and no reason to panic. I see more and more here that with a new launch it's always "the sky is falling!" attitudes and no logic is thrown into the argument.
Now, sit down, have a drink, and relax. The cars will come and be delivered with a high level of quality and perform to exceed your expectations. Everything good is worth the wait...

Is that why I had a bunch of widespread problems? All the other owners with the same have bad karma? Bunch of genius here! Has nothing to do with karma, has to do with Ford not living up to Quality is Job 1. Keep making excuses like Camaro 5 members though.
