has the OK to sell been given??
It's strange you say that. My dealer mentioned to me yesterday evening that they have a GT500 en route.
I do but I don't. If Ford is just waiting for the 17th they should just announce that. Like I said I want them to work out any issues before shipping, but if this was any other purchase I would of cancelled it. Can you imagine ordering anything else, and having the company move the shipping date on you 3 times and still tell you they have no idea when it will arrive? I'm not really sure why we cut a car company so much slack just becuase we want something so bad!
Our first '11 V6 has an ever-moving ETA to our dealership. Now the ETA is 4/29, which means it's likely going to leave the factory next week sometime to get here by 4/29.
i tend to think your right. for most time customers fall into a couple areas.
1. ordering just about every option on the car. very few of the guys that buy that way.
2. striped down cars with performance options. i fit into this one. give me a deluxe with 3.73 and manual trans.
3. the few option ppl. this is hit or miss. What i cant stand about stangs is almost every one is charcoal black leather...I does look but but there are other great options like saddle. Also why does almost all verts ordered for the lot have auto? do you guys have really that hard time selling manual verts?
But your right there are some dealers that order pretty decent.
If they are holding back the GT, I would be disappointed but not surprised. It's almost a completely new engine of course, whereas the V6 and GT500 V8 are evolutions. Given the team that was responsible for the engine, they built a truly awesome engine, but probably overlooked some NVH or PCM tuning issues. Then some QA folks who aren't as forgiving probably threw up a red flag or two. Or, as sometimes happens in my line of work, someone dictated a last minute change that either got goofed up or it messed up something else. All complete speculation of course.
My GT Premium was built yesterday according to the window sticker. My take is this, let them hold the cars as long as they need to to prevent me from having to take the car in to fix nagging issues they overlooked during the first run. This is a car we're talking about not software. Fixing problems after the fact is both time consuming and costly. Take the time to get it done right the first time and we'll all be happy. I'm fine driving my 1995 5.0 a few weeks longer in the meantime. BTW, I ordered mine on 1/22/10.

Then maybe they are just really testing them well trying to avoid a Toyota like recall. Just wish they would release some details on the hold up is all.

but it's great news for me
