GT vs SS vs SRT8?
I don't think the Mustang will be able to match the Camaro's performance, I guess it's looking like the 4th gen wars again. I just hope that because of Chevy's fairly low price Ford can give us similar performance for even less money.
I'm thinking with the money saved from retaining most of the 05' platform, a car that has pretty much paid off all its tooling.... that the 11' car can offer the 5.0 with 400HP and a 6 speed well equipped for about $27,000? Remember that the MSRP for the new for 05' model was withing a couple hundred dollars of the dated 04' model. Either way I think Ford, Chevy and Dodge are going to offer great values because the competition for out money is intense.

It would be crazy to raise the price of the '10. Maybe when the 5.0 comes out but why do it with the same drivetrain? This could just push people to buy the Camaro who do not want to wait for the 5.0 but want more HP. Not everyone is a loyalist.
Ford should have just put the 5.0 in the '10 and got it right from the get go. Its not like they did not know the Camaro and Challenger were coming out with these engines. They only had 5-6 yrs to prepare for this.

The question i have: Are you ready to pay 2k-3k$ more fot the new Mustang with:
Better brakes and suspension, 6 airbags, 6 speed, 19" wheels....
The Camaro V6 have +90hp with better fuel economy than actual Mustang V6 but also have ABS, 6 aribags, stabilitrak traction control, 6 speed, 18" wheels... on base model +2900$
The Camaro SS have +100/122hp than actual Mustang GT with Brembo brakes, better suspension, 20" wheels, 6 airbags... +4500$
I hope that Ford does not remain short for support the price.

+1 Ford pisses me off with this. Back in 94' we got an all new mustang with the old 5.0 that wasn't even upgraded. The 94' GT posted slower times than the lighter equally powerful 93'!After Chevy gave the Camaro the new 305HP LS1 in 98', Ford responds with an upgraded 260HP 4.6 in 99' WTF!?!
Now for the new 10' model we get another carryover? I have a feeling a lot of Mustang guys are going to pass on the 10' model. Lets just hope Ford goes all out for 11'.

Camaro is the WIN! All Camaros are the WIN! Even when they people weren't buying Camaros and they stopped making them for almost a decade, Camaros were the WIN! GM is the WIN! GM can do no wrong! Ford, just shut down the Mustang plant and admit defeat.
There, are you happy now?
I dont think the Camaro is going to be to hard to defeat. It weighs about the same as the Challenger and the SRT's are only turning low 14's and some are reaching high 13's in the quarter. A stock 05+ GT can do that easy. I do agree that with the aggressive pricing that Chevy & Dodge have put on their two Ford had better keep the Mustang below it.
OK you've convinced me. All your compelling arguments have worn me down. Ford sucks. All Ford does sucks. Anything Ford ever did sucks. All Mustangs suck. All Mustangs ever made FAIL. All Mustang that ever will be made will FAIL.

I won't be buying an 10' Mustang GT as I first wanted to. It seems that this car will be a let down. Most sources inside Ford say that the current Bullitt is the 10' GT, that isn't good enough for me. I want my GT with at least 400HP, 6 speed MT/AT, and an IRS. I know one day Ford will deliver but I don't want to wait until the next generation Mustang. The more I ponder the future of the Mustang the more I think i'm going to get myself a 07-09 GT500 when the time is right. As for the current 05-09 owners, is 15-20ish HP, new interior, minor updated styling and perhaps better brakes worth trading in your current car? I admit when the 05' first came out I wanted to trade in my current Mustang for the new one, now I just don't get that same vibe.
My whole point is Ford was ahead of the game (the only game in town) and yet, they allowed the competition to come in and offer stuff they won't in 10'. I still will end up buying a Mustang over a Camaro or Challenger. Though I may not sound like a loyal Mustang guy I am. As a loyal Mustang guy I don't want to see the 10' Mustang bested by it's competition. I feel for Ford to make this car comparable it must produce at least 350HP and be priced the same as the current car or maybe undercut it to take GM, Dodge sales.

I do not think you will see many trade in their 05+ until the 5.0 hits the streets. Most are getting that extra HP with a tune and CAI on their cars now. It would make no sense when you can just wait a year.
They will rely on V6 sales and those who do not know about the 5.0 or those who are into looks and not HP.

I'm not impressed.
Frankly, I'm happy I got my '08 GT. If the '10 is going to be nothing more than the Bullitt, then I can certainly upgrade my GT w/ a CAI and tune.
However, I must admit that I was considering a Camaro SS, but I definitely was not going to buy one for about a year, since I heard that a HUD and Navi were coming at the end of 2009. Now, after seeing the pricing, I'm glad I didn't wait. $30,995 is a little steep. If that was the price for a loaded SS, I think I would be okay with that, but let's get real here. $30,995 gets you an incredible engine w/ cloth seats, a POS interior (which is stripped down), and an equally stripped down exterior. If you want a 2SS, which I assume gives you the dashboard gauge pods, leather, and a decent stereo, you're paying $34,995. Any further options, such as the "RS" package for $1200, the eventual Navigation option, plus sales tax, and most likely you're looking at a $40,000+ automobile.
Personally, I think that's ridiculous for a pony car. $40,000, in my mind, crosses a threshold. That's BMW, Infiniti, and Cadillac CTS territory. Not to mention that you may very well find a Chevy dealer willing to give you a great deal on a new Corvette for that price. And I'm sorry, if I was presented with a choice of either a Camaro or a Corvette for around the same price, well...I'm driving off in the 'Vette.
As for me, I'll wait until Labor Day 2013, when the '08 GT is paid off, Ford and Chevy are trying to get rid of their older models, and then we'll see what I decide to buy.
