Forced induction on a stock 5.0...
#42
The Terminator and GT500 have always had all the fun, being able to up their horsepower several hundred compared to stock, while the GT has always required major engine tear down/building to do the same. I'm not trying to be rude, but I personally hope you are wrong.

Oh I know. I'm not trying to be either friend. I'm just having a "what if" discussion on a forum and trying to learn from those more knowledgeable - whether its from published info or the many 'hands on' guys on the forum.
Maybe it will be able to take power through the roof.![Dunno](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/dunno.gif)
But according to the published information, and using Shelby GT350's 650 FI as a safe bet max, what surprised me is with all the great engineering that went into the 5.0, apparently the internals will safely take boost to about a 50+% gain over stock. Whereas the 4.6 3V's 500HP proven FI safe limit was a 2/3 increase over stock HP with stock internals. See what I'm saying? Ford went this far in engineering a superb 5.0 414HP. They could have gone a bit further on internals IMO. I mean its not like Ford isn't aware of the many Mustang engine modders, right? lolol Then the 5.0 would be ready for anything the Chally or Camaro could come up with next - without having to invest in beefier internals.
I love learning about the engineering and mechanics of both of these engines. Been a DOHC 4V fan since my '74 Lotus 907. And before that loved the 289 over any of the big block Mustangs back in the day. I like small high output motors. But either way FI limits won't affect me. I'm a NA guy all the way. lol

As others have stated the article was old. Keep in mind the same thing was said about the 4.6 (which somehow had a magical 450rwhp limit) and it turned out to be pretty stout. I wouldn't sweat a little bit of boost. So far the 5.0's seem to be holding up ok for the most part. Low to mid 500's should be ok if your tune is spot on. That's the key. you can grenade a n/a motor just as easily with a crap tune. Also someone mentioned price? Add up heads, cams, intake, exhaust & tune and I bet you'll be right at what a blower would cost.

Knock on wood but im saying 750rwhp max on stock motor with running meth injection and 650 without meth injection, ITS ALL ABOUT THE TUNE. Thank you John Lund and the tuning gods for every day that my 12.9 psi boosted stock bottom end holds. Do I think 100,000mi with no major concerns, no, I think maybe 60000 with luck and good manners. My car has put down a best of 703ft lbs recently with 697rwhp, and previously made 701.9hp and 651.5 ft lbs. Now the tranny on the other hand well stock didn't like those power levels, so it been rebuilt (liberty). But the motor thank goodness is still working as of this time car has had the blower for 5000 at 12.9 psi. Roush tvs, alky contol inj, JOHN LUND TUNE.
