Loading with 4000 RPM's will tend to make it launch harder.

It's not a matter of me liking my v6 better. It was the 5.0 I test drove did not live up to what I thought it should be for 37k. I felt that my tuned v6 pulled almost as hard as the 5.0 tested with a much better throttle response to boot. For 37k and a 420 HP car I wanted to be scared $hitless and feel that I need to trade my v6 right now and can't live without a 5.0. That model left me feeling like a night at the stripe bar. Fun, but is that it and I was expecting more.
Yes turbo and AWD cars tend to feel a lot faster than they are. I think its because all the torque tends to hit at once when the turbo spools. whereas naturally aspirated engines are relatively more of a gradual buildup.

also the ride in a porsche is far more tight and low slung. Thats what makes hondas feel like speed racers... the tight ride.

Lol or just a tune... Get off the gears man. Tons of people put up great times with the 3:15 auto.

A 5.0 with 3.15s does feel kinda slow, but line it up with the V6 and it would walk away. My 2011 came with 3.15s, made a world of difference once I put in the 3.73s. It has nothing to do with the car being that much faster, but the way the gear makes the car feel.

EDIT: And a tune would help alot as well, especially a hybrid tune that focuses on low end torque.

it's a 302 guys, not a 427. of course torque is missing.

First time I drove a new 5.0 I was seriously disappointed (lack of torque) but while it didn't feel like i was getting pinned to the seat, the speedometer said otherwise.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but a 3:73 gear is going to make the car considerable faster because you climb into your power band much faster. Your gonna hit your max torque and HP faster than someone with 3:15 or 3:31 gears. So in turn it absolutely reduces the time it takes one to accelerate 0-60, 1/4 mile or 100 mph. The faster your hit your power band the faster you will accelerate. So gearing is very important . The hybrid tune is wicked fast because it combines the street and race tune together. You have full low torque power, mid power and high end power of the race tune. Huge difference.

When I'm done with my mods I want to find someone with a base 5.0 automatic or manual with 3:15 and pull one or two races and see how well I do. The mods should all be completed by the end of march. I will have the following:

91 Hybrid tune
Airraid CAI
Flowmaster axle back exhaust
One Piece Aluminum driveshaft from AM
3:73 Ford racing gears
BBK long tube headers
Off road X pipe, cats will be gone.

With this setup I believe I think its possible to beat 0-60 and 1/4 mile a factory stock 5.0 that has 3:15 gears. If I still loose it will be maybe by a car length or less.

Its a great car, huge potential for HP gains, but if someone is looking for performance out of there 5.0, don't get 3:15 gears and buy a performance tuner. Its was very disappointing. I have no reserve a 3k modded 11 plus sixer will walk the dog over a factory stock 5.0 with the standard 3:15 gears.

Again lol you may love you 6, which is awesome because I love mine too. But don't pretend your sixxer with no blower or turbo can walk a v8, especially the new ones. Put that 5.0 in someone's hands who knows how to act with its stock shift points and its a done deal lol
