Wouldnt it be easier to just put the new powertrain in a plain jane 2006 that no one would ever notice?

Not unless theres a 5.8L BOSS engine for the 2011 Mustang GT or 5.4L 4v Mustang BOSS engine under that hood.

2009 is supposed to be just a re-style with a possible special edition that uses the 5.8L Hurricane V8, which becomes standard in the re-designed 2010 GT.

This was my thought too.

Of course, it also looks like a pad on the hood camo.

how disappointing! I thinks it's merely a 2007 with a different front fascia and same big honking fog lights. The hood is padded and wrapped.

I believe that a pad has been added under the wrap to disguise the hood. It's probably the same hood and not really bigger.

As in 2010 BOSS Mustang ... (no 5.8L...sounds like 5.4 4v)
and 2011 Mustang GT (with BOSS 5.8L AL SOHC)

hahah... they don't need to test ALL parts at once... especially if its powertrain, so why replace other body panels. No hips doesn't mean its not the 2010...

They wouldn't cover up a 2008 front end or be testing it like that. No need. You didn't see any GT/CS mules or Pony Package mules... and they had different body parts.

As stated
It's probably a powertrain mule with front end to test for cooling/power etc

Exactly. I think everyone's getting worked up for no reason.

I agree with 2006GT500 on this, the orange concept is just way to non mustang for me. I think Ford really hit the sweet spot with the 05+ and now all they need to do is keep refining the look. Change the hood, different/smaller fogs (possibly centered) slight sloping hips ect. The spy shots could just be testing a new front end, it might still be too early for a full test mule to be assembled. well thats my .02
