First 2009 Mustang Spy Shots!
Hey pops, where you gettin' your info?? You porkin' Oprah or something??
Easy there cowboy...the 2009 was originally the planned year for the redesign (by redesign I mean not a tweak here and there, but not a new platform) but was pushed to 2010MY
- 2010MY (in 2009) will be like the 98-99 change, hardly a minor tweak
Every panel save the greenhouse will be changed. and new interior
As for looks, those who have seen it, say it looks aggressive compared to the 2005MY. Yes it does have hips.
From people who were shown this car at last years autoshow, Ford apparently was afraid of the 2010 looking similar in style to cues on the 2010 camaro, and would be refered to as ripping it off, even though the design for that car was completed way prior (they have been working on the 2010 since 2005/2006 if I remember correctly)
Now if you put that timeline together, and Guigiaro has been working on his car since ... oh... say the 2005 mustang was revealed...
...and ford shows the Guigiaro concept at the LA Autoshow....
Do you not think the Guigiaro has NO inspiration what so ever from the car we will see for sale in 2009?
If you think anything otherwise of them using it as a vehicle (pun intended) to gauge reactions to the cars looks, your crazy.
Think Mach3 concept. Very dramatic and crazy, but if you look closely, you see where the 94s came from in that car.
I have not seen the 2010, however I was given the privelage of seeing the 2005 production car a year before it was unveiled at the autoshow.
But I believe the people who have told me about the 2010...

Porkin' the editors of Motor Trend more like
Sidenote: Do you think Ford would be dumb enough (no jokes here..seriously..) to go up against the 2010 Camaro... with a 'minor tweaked' 2005??? like change a bumper here... change the trunk there..???
Now Mullaly has stated that to stay competitve, that they will be refreshening their products with Mid Cycle Changes sooner (2-3 years) compared to the 5 now.
The 2005 will be long in the tooth (5 full product years) by the time the 2010 rolls around.

That's disapointing since I do not like the frontend of the Guiagario. I think they could meld a little more of the 69 front-end style with the rear of the 67-68 into the next revision.
I'd reserve judgement till I see it...
If infact the spy shot of the 2010 mule is any indication (and it's hard to say since its heavily camo'd)
The front end (bumper/grille) may have the lines of the Guigiaro... but not exact. as the front still had fogs in the grille like the 05, and theres no way those lights would fit into the Guigiaro front end.
I also don't think it's as flat and chopped in the front.
Any indication would say, take the 05s bumper dimensions, and mold in the guigiaro lines. Would make it look aggressive.. closer to the look of the GT500. Which is apparently what the 2010 will be, more aggressive.
The quote I heard from someone who saw it was "If you like the 2005, you'll love the 2010" mind you, not everyone will like the changes. Can't please everyone.

OK...I know it is off topic... sorry...
Why do people have to bash the II? I had a couple of those and they were a ton of fun. Small, light and the 302 was an option. The 302 still had a ton of torque. When my 302 started to rattle, I rebuilt it with more power. No biggie. On Gratiot, I shocked a lot of 60's early 70's muscle.

Sorry to step on your dream car but I had a '75 hatchback. It was my first and worst car I've ever had. It was a gutless 4 banger and the weld joints rusted out where they attached the roof to the front window uprights. It was 4 speed standard and the clutch was crap. 1975 isn't the only year I curse. I had a '84 with the same rusting weldjoints. The only improvement was better engine and clutch. I love Mustangs. In my order of mfgr. preferences I put GM last. Ford and Chrysler a close tie for first with Chrysler having the edge because I like their styling and the Mustang is the only Ford that really excites me. The Japanese and Korean cars are in a class of thier own. They have great reliablility but they all look the same these days.
geesch! guess you shoulda just bought a Pinto!! My T-Top II, was an awesome little car. plenty of power and torque, too. ya know the 302 was available then. Up until last year when I finally let her go (to a collector) was a show stopper and grew crowds of nay sayer's to rethink there bias positions. Even MustangEnthusiast Mag ran a small story on her.
Toms Car:

Cobra II

I think most of us would consider a "dream car" something we haven't owned, although I do dream about some of the things I have done in my old II's.
I personally would love to have a '70 Boss 302. My last '76 Cobra II was sold to a guy in Alabama who is painting it the more rare darker blue with white stripes. Wish I had that picture right now.

I dig it that you like the II's, don't get me wrong- that's your peragotive and that's fine with me bro. BUT, I won't agree that they look like the new cars- that's just crazy man.

and so shall the 09 Mustangs be........
