Did They Just Kill the Mustang?
#102
Whatever happened to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality? I like the style of the current Mustang as do millions of other people, so IMO Ford took the best Mustang design they have made in the last 20 years and added on to that. Everyone wanted hips for the 05+ now it's got that, People liked the slanted headlights and front end of the GT500 so the new one takes cues from that. People wanted a more refined interior and some new bells and whistles, and Ford took care of that. From where I sit the only thing Ford did was play it safe and give peopel what they wanted, the end result I am sure will be high sales of which I guess according to Edmunds Ford doesn't want
I remember a lot of people wanting "hips"... and complaining about the "crappy" interior on the '05-09s. So, Ford gives people what they want and they still complain? The power increase isn't enough. Blah blah blah. Are people satisfied???

I pretty much like the modest changes to the 10' model. I am however one of those expecting a bigger bump in HP. I think these cars preform well considering they only have 300HP. Keep in mind that the last F-Body cars were putting out 320HP back in 02'. I'd say its about time that the GT puts out at least 350HP. 2010 is going to be a tough year for the Mustang, I think its going to get bashed in the press because the upcoming Camaro is a better overall performance vehicle. I guess we will have to see final sales figures to find the real winner here.

The 2010 has the same adaptive ignition programming as the current Bullitt, correct? So the 315 hp rating is on 87 octane and would be something like 320hp on premium.

I think the 2010 is a MAJOR refresh. Add the 400 HP 5.0L engine in 2011 and you've got a near home run.

SO true. In fact, it seems as though Ford really took most of the things people complained about and asked for, and added them to this car. I think they "listened" more than they have in a long while. Only thing that didn't make it is IRS...though who knows after 2010?

Exactly 100% right on the money, and with either a Bamachip's or Brenspeed tunes. You could expect to reach close to possibly 350HP on premium

I agree guys, You could give them everything they wanted and asked for, Plated in 24 karat Gold and Someone would Complain They wanted Silver. People are So Fickle in this,
I WANT IT NOW...Verruca Salt Society.
As for the Aftermarket Cold Air Induction, it's not Dead, I'm sure there will be plenty available, all claiming better breathing or more horse power. I'd leave mine stock and replace the panel filter with a K&N.

I agree. Ford addressed all the issues I had with the '05 (and there weren't many!), and very well. But it irritates me that they hosed up the rear of the car in the process...
