Brake/Caliper Issues - Help!!

I have a 2010 Grabber Blue V6 with Ford Racing Exhaust. 24,000 miles. Everything is pretty much original. After getting home from work on Monday, I noticed my driver's side wheel was covered in black and awfully hot - looks like something got stuck on. (No, not my emergency brake!) Hit the caliper with a hammer and it came loose and drove to work yesterday fine. On my way home the brake pedal in the car went all the way to the floor.

Anyone else have any similar issues?

Do you know if I replace everything myself if I can bleed the ABS brakes myself or if I need to use a computer? Help!

Thanks!!

Check your fluid. Could be low. This happened to my clutch, not the brakes, but adding some fluid fixed my clutch pedal.

Never had the issue but yes you can do the full brake job with no special tools. My thread from my brake job a couple days ago: https://themustangsource.com/forums/f726/first-brake-job-finally-questions-opinions-welcome-536979/

I would not drive the car after smacking the caliper with a hammer, at least until I took the wheels off and checked everything out.

Thank you both for the quick replies! I'll look over your thread for replacement of the brakes and I'm pretty sure the fluid level is good (checked everything not too long ago) but I'll check it again!

Piston could be seizing in the caliper, or the brake hose could be collapsing internally and acting as a one-way check valve, not allowing the pressure relief when you take your foot off the brake. I've seen it on old cars, but never on something this new.

Thanks again for all the help/advice. Haven't had a chance to mess with it at all yet. Hopefully soon.

The first portion perfectly describes a seized caliper. Take the caliper off and the pads would be worn down significantly and the piston in the caliper will be difficult to press back into the caliper if it is seized.
Not so sure about the pedal going to the floor though last time a caliper seized on me the clips on one of the pads broke and the pad came out of the caliper so I had no pressure in the pedal. You definitely will want to check your lines and fluids though.
