Brake/Caliper Issues - Help!!
Brake/Caliper Issues - Help!!
I have a 2010 Grabber Blue V6 with Ford Racing Exhaust. 24,000 miles. Everything is pretty much original. After getting home from work on Monday, I noticed my driver's side wheel was covered in black and awfully hot - looks like something got stuck on. (No, not my emergency brake!) Hit the caliper with a hammer and it came loose and drove to work yesterday fine. On my way home the brake pedal in the car went all the way to the floor.
Anyone else have any similar issues?
Do you know if I replace everything myself if I can bleed the ABS brakes myself or if I need to use a computer? Help!
Thanks!!

I would not drive the car after smacking the caliper with a hammer, at least until I took the wheels off and checked everything out.

Thank you both for the quick replies! I'll look over your thread for replacement of the brakes and I'm pretty sure the fluid level is good (checked everything not too long ago) but I'll check it again!
Piston could be seizing in the caliper, or the brake hose could be collapsing internally and acting as a one-way check valve, not allowing the pressure relief when you take your foot off the brake. I've seen it on old cars, but never on something this new.

Not so sure about the pedal going to the floor though last time a caliper seized on me the clips on one of the pads broke and the pad came out of the caliper so I had no pressure in the pedal. You definitely will want to check your lines and fluids though.
