Amber Gold Color

You are correct- nicer colors cost more too. Two reasons:
1) Each additional paint color added to the assembly line increases cost. Why? Production downtime switching the paintbooth to spray a different color. There is only 1 paintbooth at AAI, which is why some Mustang colors must be shared w/ Mazda 6 and vice versa. Remember part of Henry Ford's assembly line and price reduction formula for the Model T was "any color they want as long as it's black." Black dried quickly, too.
2) Nicer, premium paints, like the liquid colors you see on BMW, Infiniti, etc, are metallics. This means in order for the panels to match, all pieces must be sprayed in the same direction at the same time, if not the metallic flakes will be oriented in a different direction, reflecting light differently and thus looking like a different color. ( Honda has made this mistake- look at Accord bumpers vs. doors in beige metallic. )
This further increases production downtime, because the body in white ( BIW ) must be painted with the doors, hood, trunklid and bumpers/fascias, even if their "just-in-time" installation is way, way further down the assembly line. This is why you'll notice some metallics are extra-cost options. If not, such as in the Mustang's case, the additional cost is built into the overall car.
Another reason there is sometimes not so great colors- remember, Ford doesn't make the paint, suppliers do. And when you cost cut down the supplier, or accept the lowest bid, you can expect to get what you pay for. Many many time the final paint is way off what the designers actually wanted, because the supplier couldn't formulate the exact paint at the cost Ford was willing to pay.
That said, I like the gold so far, but yes, needs some black stripes like the Mach 1.

Back in 2000 Ford WAS planning a Mystic Gold mustang
800 were said to be built...colour changed from Gold, Yellow-green spectrum.
Wonder if they'll do a MysticGT500

Yep. Me too. I remember a Green Pinto I had -- and it wasn't Dark Highland. I'm just not into "earth tone" cars.
But mine is Performance White.
