OK...here is the real scoop...Just got off the phone with "Al"
Ford is trying to get rid of the '11 and '12 inventory first because prices for the '13 are going to be drastically reduced. The more options you put on the car, the less it will be as Ford is cleaning out their closet to make room for the '15. I would guess base price for the GT's will be in the upper teens.

I've been ordering Fords at the dealership level for years. It is NOT unusual for the order banks to open without pricing finalized. It is often several weeks later before the pricing goes live, so we are past that now, but it isn't the worst that could happen.
Ford is not going to schedule any retail (customer) orders initially. Stock orders only for now until the 'okay to buy.' This is straight from the Ford weekly commodity restraint memo. Jeff has mentioned this fact a few times that special orders often start arriving after stock orders, but it is worth repeating for those that don't know how scheduling works.
Is it possible that Ford will lower Mustang prices for the '13's? Anything is possible, and I just priced up a '13 Explorer for a customer a couple days ago vs a '12 Explorer. Identical trim & options and the '13 Explorer MSRP & Invoice Total are actually a little bit less than the '12. Will the Mustang go down in price, as well? Hope to find out soon!

Agreed. I get to wait until they decide to start building the 500's so even when they do put out the prices, my opportunity to actually order is going to be a ways off. It's good to hear this kind of stuff. Learn something new every day.

The 'okay to buy' for each vehicle line is different. It is usually a few weeks after production starts to ensure that any problems with the cars only affect stock units sitting unsold at the factory and on dealer lots. Once Ford is confident that production is going well and that cars are the highest quality, then the 'okay to buy' is issued and retail orders can be scheduled. My guess is that '13 Mustangs will get the 'okay to buy' in mid March, so the first retail orders won't get built until April and start arriving in late April or early May. There will be stock orders on dealer lots by mid April, IMHO, a couple of weeks ahead of the first retail orders.

Here's a question since I don't really know how it works. If a stock order is scheduled, is that when the VIN is released?
If that is the case, I was just thinking if one of the cars Five Oh Brian or 05fordgt ordered for stock orders gets scheduled sooner than the price list is released, wouldn't they still be able to view the price for that particular car by looking up the window sticker?

Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of updates this morning. I'm down at the Philadelphia Auto Show dealer preview. I checked for the guide when I got here & saw no prices yet. I do have something nice to list though. We got the SBY Laguna Sec at our show.
