I can't even imagine since it is one step shy of being in your driveway. If mine can get scheduled next week, I may still have a shot for a May delivery.

Just curious. Do you know when they completed the build on your car?

Got an email from ford a few days ago...

"Good morning! I am following up on our previous conversation and I am providing you a current status on your Mustang. As of April 04, 2012 I show your vehicle in production status. Once it rolls off the assembly line it will show awaiting transport. I will check your vehicle status every few days and keep you informed accordingly.

We must find a way or make one"

Pretty good service on their part. Never even asked for an email!

I hear that we made the right choice and it is worth every bit of the wait..... Just wish I learned about being patient!

Hey guys (and ladies if you are here too). I just did some research and found some useful information. If you call 800-392-3673 and give them your VIN, they may be able to give you more information about where your car is, and if they can't they will open a ticket and someone will call you back within a couple of days. When I called I found out that the status the dealer was looking at had not been updated since April 1, so I'm excited to find out what the real status is.

So my ETA was 4/4/12. I was just curious as to the possible reasons for the delay. Is it a quality control issue or a transport issue or maybe some other reason?

ETA's change all the time. It could be ur car is waiting for transport or a million other things.

This gives a shock sensor to the vehicle and its the best one you can get. I'm sure they are trying to sell you the most expensive "Viper" alarm system or something like it. Your find with the Ford one. Its a good system.
Thanks Jeff! I had done some searches earlier and found the Ford alarm for sale from $130 to $180. I assume an experienced installer can do the install in 2 hours, so I was thinking $400 installed and you came up with that also.

I don't know what my salesman was selling, but I will find out when I talk to him again.

They come with a passive anti theft system (PATS), not a passive alarm. This only prevents you from starting the car and driving it away without the correct key.

You are still able to break into the car, steal the seats or whatever with no alarm alert.

Sorry if I misinformed, but Ive had 2 V6s, an '05 & '07, neither with active anti-theft, from two different dealers and both had OEM alarms as far as I can tell. They both use only the Ford key fobs.

Well I don't believe that actually true. Try this.. roll your window down, lock your car, wait about a minute then reach inside and open the door from the inside handle and it should set off the alarm. The active anti theft adds an interior sensor and a shock sensor.

According to the order guide, it comes with the PATS system. According to Ford, PATS prevents drive away theft. There is no mention of an alarm.

I'd like to be wrong, but I can't find anything documenting that I am.

Jeff or Brian, can you verify what the standard security system does?
