I like this post.
Unfortunately, most cobra owners are not on this site. So I team up with the Shelby crowd. Unless that Boss is sporting a supercharger, I'm not impressed at all. My little 03 cobra is built to disappoint most Boss owners.

FWIW. I'm pretty sure that I can buy and build a GT that will smoke a stock Boss and still save money over buying a Boss.
The only reason that I would ever consider a Boss would be due to the forged 5.0. So forced induction is an option. The 2013 boss looks pretty dang good and I may be tempted. But of course, a lot of the Boss crap will be stripped off.

Oh, that's too bad. Maybe your next car won't be so disappointing.

Maybe that applies to the Boss whose performance is beyond mechanically possible capabilities.
After all, being a Mustang, it is a "Hoss"
(unlike the Cobra which is a snake, that slithers on its belly in the grass to sneak up and bite you in the a$$ :-P )

I'm pretty sure you could use the difference saved on track time and end up with a faster car by improving the nut behind the wheel but sometimes we all just end up splurging.

LOL at this thread. i had a blown 10 that had about the same whp as my boss does now. when i ended up with that 10 i had actually gone to check out a 03 cobra and had ventured into cobra land on the forums to ask a few questions. You would think Obama had raped puppies while screaming holiday tree on Christmas day from the reaction I got for having the audacity to not buy the cobra.

i will simply say this again, i'm levelheaded guy and OP the original post rubbed me the wrong way. it doesn't really matter one way or the other though. and i guarantee you if i hopped onto the shelby or cobra section here and said the boss was a better buy than a GT500 or cobra for the money the comments would be very similar. The only people we can all hate uniformly are those that think the 11 V6 is better than a 10GT.

that last bit was a joke btw

Not better just near equal to the previous year Gt's.lol. With the new v6 that Ford put out the previous year GT's are no longer the top dog. No longer is the v6 on the bottom of the food chain. The 2010 Gt will be remembered as being just as fast as the V6 2011 plus years. Oh snap!

Very true, The 2010 Gt has 325 torque. The 2011 sixer has 280 torque. 45 torque difference which gives the GT about a half car length advantage on a 1/4 mile track or 0 to 60 run. Hands down the 2010 Gt will have a faster run time than the 11 sixer. Faster run time will equate to the 2010 Gt having a 2 to 3 tenth second faster time than the 2011 sixer.

Certainly for 6 or 7 k more you should be able to pull ahead and 2 tenths is what she will be. The 2011 is right their on performance and speed. Heck Ford gave the 2011 the same suspension system as the 2010 Gt. So on a track course the sixer is right there with the 2010 Gt.

I know its hard for the 05-10 V8 enthusiasts to except there V8 is no longer the big kid on the block. Ford has born a new breed of stang with the V6 and 5.0 and they out did themselves. The 2010 Gt is an awesome kick a$$ car that delivers power and performance. The new sixer is now able to hang and play with the big kids and some feelings may have been hurt with the new upgraded engine.

I seem to recall back in the mid 1980's a certain car company that produced a vehicle that was just a stock sixer and destroyed the big V8's including the deadliest one back then, the Corvette. Many V8 enthusiasts feelings were hurt when they went up against this vehicle with it's sixer.

Now what was the name of that sixer vehicle and horrible company known today as Government Motors. OH, that's right GM and its Grand National.

Wasn't that a turbo six. Big difference from a naturally aspirating V8

You bet sir, but a just a sixer. Ford did with there new engine what GM did with the Grand National. Made the sixer a beast and respectable for a performance motor.
