Yes this site is one of the better ones, that being said 99% of the info out there is pure speculation, some will hit some wont but at the end of the day it’s all a guess till Ford says different. I really dont feel the need to bicker over the net if you want to believe what you see here and else where on the net as fact so be it. And BTW kudos for your 4 years and 4,527 posts here.

This is all I’m saying, Hell even what we see and hear from Ford can has has changed in the past. I’m all for any hints of what’s may or may not be to come but I take it for what it is not as gospel.

Im really quite surprised Ford is taking the chance having less than stellar sales by throwing the “old” motor in for another year or so. I for one wont buy the 10’ “knowing” the 5.0 is just around the corner, its kind of like buying an 01 Cobra then getting creamed by an 03. I just don’t see the logic.

^^ in all fairness the 01 cobra rules all......... seriously though how many people knew that the 03 was heading the direction it did, hell in 01 the svt guys could not wait to see what the 02 would bring

stick to the 3 valve because any more than that and you will be out of your element....... "oh no he didn't"....... "oh yes i did"

I'm surprised too. If there was no real competition I could see keeping the existing engine, maybe squeezing an extra 15-20 HP out of it and calling it a day. However with the Camaro and the Challenger on the street (or soon to be there), I'm surprised Ford is content with sacrificing next year to Chrysler and GM. I would've thought putting the 5.0 on the fast track so it'd be ready to counter the competition would've been something worth doing.

they will still struggle with their base though if they only bump the current motor, even if the weight does drop the guys that are wanting the 5.0 will still most likely wait.

Although I agree with you, I can see how Ford is willing to risk it. With just a modest HP bump the new GT will be faster than the competing R/T Challenger (the current Bullit is already faster and has better handling). And the SS won't be in the same price range as a GT, GM stated it themselves. If the decision were up to me I would have rushed the 5.0, but Ford can play the bang for the buck card until 2011. Then it'll be the best PERIOD.

They ARE rushing it in reality.

The engine really wasn't on the radar ... remember the original plan was to use the 5.8 and 6.2 BOSS engines (one, other or mix) So it sounds like Ford is trying to fast track the 5.0 - remember this isn't just a quick upgrade to the 4.6...
So COULD they have had it ready? Might have been a tight squeeze...

As much as we'd want this engine yesterday, I'd rather they still take their time to test/retest/test some more... and get it right. With whats riding on it....you'll be thankful in the end.

Autoblog has the same spy pics but are somewhat more revealing beacause there's no huge embedded watermark covering the sides!!

I forgot that they were going to use the BOSS engines. Makes sense that the 5.0 isn't ready then

^^ if i am not mistaken it is not in the boss line, could be wrong but that only happened once before....

although it is all internet hoopla so who knows, there was an article on the death of the hurricane line.

and why do i have v6 member under my name????? is that just the natural progression of post counts adjusting the status?

Normal progression. Theres a ranking system based on posts, and as you post more you get higher up mustang titles

of course, you can also be ridiculous and get awarded a custom title like myself. There are two ways to get one. Be really really cool. or the more common, be really really dumb

5.0 is related more to the 4.6/5.4 mod motors...next gen of them.
The Boss = Hurricane..not dead, just in A LOT less vehicles..mainly, its a truck Super Duty engine.

V6 title..post more..it'll change
