'10 not as cool as '05-09 s197
'10 not as cool as '05-09 s197
from all the spy pics i have seen, it seems as if ford is un-muscularizing the mustang
also, new camaro and challenger dont come close to looking as cool as the s197 stang.

And just how did you come to such a conclusion. As you haven't seen anything yet to make such a judgement, as nobody knows what the 2010 looks like underneath all that camouflage. At least wait until the Camo comes off, before you criticize it.
It's kinda hard to judge the 10' by the spyshots. They are not revealing at all! All we really know is what the head/tail lights looks like alone with a few other minor details. If the next gen GT comes with a 400HP 5.0 i'll forget about the 05-09 cars pretty quick. It seems like people are shooting down this car without even knowing anything about it, i'm excited about the re-style because i feel the current car is getting a bit stale and seeing something new would spark an interest for me of purchasing a new car. Just my .02
Those who have seen it says its MORE aggressive and muscular
and with a 5.0 (1st or 2nd year) it'll more than back that look up.
I have no doubt in my mind that it'll blow the 05 away in the looks (which obviously are subjective) and power.

i doubt it. hard to beat the '05 S197 body.
Muscle car meaning early 70's muscle. Losing that retro edge and looking less like a muscle car and more like a sports car. Less square, more aerodynamic, more sleek, etc. I see it too, it's all just perception and speculation at this point.
The general shape from the 2005 will no doubt still be present,
but more aggressive shelby like front and hips.
I can't see why it wouldn't look more muscular....especially coming from what people have said who have seen it.

A Ferrari is muscular, but it's not what you think of when someone says 'Muscle Car'. We'll see, no use debating peoples perceptions.
Well some would say that the 65 is classic styling, but then when you look at a 69 Boss, you think whoa, now that's one aggressive looking stang... so it's all evolution... no, the '10 won't look just like the '05, but that doesn't mean it can't evolve into something better. Yes, I have my reservations about the '10 face lift, but until we see it sans camo, it's all just speculation at this point.

Yeah, everyone's gotta be a little apprehensive about the successor to the S197, if for no other reason than it would be so extremely difficult to improve the S197, but extremely easy to **** it up to some degree or other--look how the new Challenger got ****ed up with 4140 pounds and an interior from a rental fleet Caliber! Or the new Camaro with it's transvestite spaceship interior and it's stretched & widened 1971 Toyota Celica ST exterior--Ewwwwww that's fugly!
Personally, I'd settle for three vertical taillights on each side a la the '67/'68 models, a rear-fender kick-up a la the '64/'65/'66 models, a real "C" scoop on each side instead of a sorta "oblique L" on each side (again like the '64/'65/'66 models), utter abolition of that abominable faux gas cap, a windshield antenna instead of the dorky non-retractable fender antenna, painted side mirrors like the cast-aluminum two-piece units on the first Torino GTs/Cyclone GTs, and rear wheel tubs deepened inwards so that 420s or 425s could fit inside the wheelwells without rubbing. That's all!
Failing that, gimme the Giugiaro concept with stock S197 sheetmetal forward of the doors and I'd never own another car as long as I live! I don't even have to have the massive one-piece glass windshield/roof/rear window, although that would be a nice touch!

With all the talk swirling about steep penalties for cars with a certain horsepower/engine size and above - going through Congress AND the new CAFE regulations, do you REALLY think the next gen Mustang will have much more power? I don't. I just hope it keeps a V-8 in the lineup.
This debate reminds me of when the 99' model first hit the streets. If my memory serves me correctly the 94' model got the same warm reception as the 05'. In my opinion it was the first retro stang, though not to the extent as the current car it was the first to bring back many classic styling cues (pony in the grille, 3 bar tail lights, side scoops, twin pod dash......) Many felt that the 94-98 cars were the best looking since the classic era and that Ford couldn't improve upon the car's styling. Most of my friends in the Mustang community welcomed the added power and overall upgrades of the 99' model but where not fans of the styling (myself included) after a couple years the car began to grow on people and now are considered the more attractive of the two. I have a feeling that many will dislike the next gen car while others will love it and after a year or two the ones who disliked the car will warm up to it like I did with the 99-04 cars. Try to think back guys. what where your feelings of the 99' car when it was first released?
